Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!
Both Arkham City and Portal 2 look amazing. They're both my must-have games being released in 2011.

Littlebrick, you of all people should understand that the Portal puzzles can't be solved by taking a picture of an object.
There's a big difference despite being similar.
But I guess it all comes down to personal preference, so don't take my honest opinions as self-proclaimed facts.
Brink looks sooooo good, I am thinking so bad to get it.
meh. I think the parkour part will be a letdown.

What does that even mean? It's a detective game with puzzles, featuring shooting, investigation, car chases, and other types of gameplay. It's got over 400 characters and has a 100 million dollar budget. Also, it's published by Rockstar Games (I know it's developed by Team Bondi, I'm sure Rockstar helped out). They literally never release a bad game, to be honest.
Yeah did you fail your junior english classes? You know how you used to learn (or still learning) to go over sentences repeatedly, picking out key words in order to comprehend what the message of the text is? I never said LA Noire looked like it was going to be bad, and I have no idea where you got that idea from - though reading through the last few pages it seems like you're more of a fanboy who gets offended when people don't praise it.
I have no doubt LA Noire is going to be great, but it's been hyped so much it's going to be almost impossible to meet the expectations.
Also, I read an editorial on Kotaku a while ago, which talked about the facial imagery and motion scan tech in LA Noire, and how some of the facial expressions were completely over the top, just so the player could recognise the person they were questioning was actually lying. People never get shifty eyes or start sweating when they're being questioned on the side of the road - it is kind of overdone.
Portal 2 and Arkham City for me.
I'll probably get Arkham City first though...

Isn't that what they said about Fallout 3? And it did meet the expectations, IMO.
In other news, that is not related to LA Noire or Portal 2 or Arkham City (thank God), I have Darkspore beta!
You thank God for strange things.
My friend recently introduced me to Minecraft. Well, I wasn't blown away by the graphics, but they add to the all-round brilliance of the game. It's incredibly original, and for a sandbox game with no story (or a game where you can make one up), this is sheer genius. It's also constantly updated, so new things to build, to find, to create... I'm impressed. And at about £10, not bad.
I'll be getting Arkham City definitely, I'm not too sure about Portal to be honest (please don't go off on a fanboy rant, I know it's a great game and heard the good points). Brink looks sweet, though Battlefield 3 looks better. Any thoughts on Modern Warfare 3? Honestly, will it never end?
I just pre-ordered Portal 2 from GameStop. Now I get a bonus roll cage skin for my co-op bot! ![]()
Just got Portal too and an Nvidia 3d vision kit.
If you loved Portal, then you should probably know it's origins.
Wow, that's interesting...

Where did you get that idea from? There was a lot of skepticism surrounding Fallout 3 and how it would turn out, seeing as Bethesda were resurrecting a 10 year old game series, bringing it to a new platfrom, completely changing the game mechanic and were adding a number of their own elements into the game.
Uh, from everyone I know? Seriously, I was excited, my dad was, all of my friends (who were guys), even my frikkin piano teacher wanted to play it!

Just seemed like from your original post that you think L.A. Noire will be bad just because it's had so much hype. Ya know, not all hyped games end up not living up to expectations (Red Dead Redemption, Littlebigplanet). And I am a fanboy. Can't help but get excited for L.A. Noire because literally every game published by Rockstar Games seem to be my most favorite game ever.

The point is to deliver an experience that's multifaceted and engaging. "You might be more interested in the police side of it," says Jeronimo, "I might be more interested in Phelps' home life, Rob might be more interested in the crimes themselves, and it's all there.

Ouch.

If you haven't already pre-ordered Portal 2 you now have no excuse:

I haven't. What ya' gonna do?
Anyway, thinking about getting Majora's Mask on virtual console, I still haven't finished Ocarina of Time though...

I still haven't beat Twilight Princess, and I have had it for half a year.
