Topic: Batman: Vigilante of Gotham (Episode #3) - Nothing To Laugh At

The third episode of my series Batman: Vigilante of Gotham is currently in pre-production. The title has not been decided as of yet.

This episode will feature the debut of the Joker, Harley Quinn and Selina Kyle.
Once executive producer Christian Chiarani and I have completed a script and I have made storyboards/animatics, I will be holding auditions for the Joker, Harley Quinn and various other characters.

I was relatively disappointed with the results of the previous episode, so for this episode, I am going to be making several changes, hopefully for the better.

BATMAN'S VOICE
In the previous episodes, A few people complained that Batman's voice wasn't deep enough. I will try to do a deeper Batman voice, while still sounding young since this show is set in the early years of Batman. Also, I will be continuing the tradition of giving Batman and Bruce Wayne two distinct voices.

DESIGNS
I will be putting more effort into set designs and city overview shots.
While I am on the subject of set designs, I am modifying the design of the Batcave. I am adding some new features, altering current ones and dropping others. Some features of the Batcave will be based on the official LEGO set released back in 2006. Here are some pictures of what the new Batcave design currently looks like. It is still a work in progress, but it is currently looking better than it did in the previous episodes.

Similarly, I will be swapping Batman's head for a yellow one. A couple of people complained that the transition from Bruce Wayne's yellow head to Batman's skin-colored head was jarring, so I dug out a duplicate of the head I use for Bruce Wayne and used it for Batman's head.
As for city overview shots, instead of relying 100% on cartoon backgrounds like I did in the previous episode, I will be making several miniature buildings out of LEGO and use them alongside a few cartoon buildings for city overview/pan shots. I have no picture examples as of now, but once I have made some, I will post them on here.

ANIMATION & ASPECT RATIO
In the first two episodes, I experimented with shooting at both 8 and 15 FPS, but I don't like how it turned out, so I will be going back to just 15 FPS.
Seeing as how I recently acquired the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000, I will be able to make shots that are bump-free and (mostly) flicker-free. I will also be able to shoot at better and more complicated angles. If I film a shot that contains even the slightest bump, a significant amount of flickers or the shot otherwise ends up being unsatisfactory and undesirable, I will refilm it until it has been done to my complete and uncompromising satisfaction.
Beginning with this episode, I will be switching to producing the show in widescreen.

SPECIAL EFFECTS
Visual and optical effects will also be improved. I will shoot against better blue/green screen and put more effort into the chroma-key shots.
Also, I will be making better practical effects shots with GIMP 2.6. There will no longer be motion blur when characters jump in mid-air, but they will retain their shadows (which was an issue in the first two episodes, as the absence of shadows detracted from the overall realism of the effect).

SOUND
Sound editing is my favorite thing to do whenever I make movies, so for this episode, I will be paying extra attention to sound. I will be using only high-quality sound effects and sometimes I'll even make my own.

So, hopefully all of these changes will make this coming episode (as well as future episodes) better than the previous ones.

That is all I have to say for now. I shall keep you all updated on production. Stay tuned.

Feedback is welcome and appreciated

EDIT (5/4/2011)
The title for this episode will be "Nothing To Laugh At"

cool, when i do a green screen i use Photo-shop to remove the background, i can then add a uniform green screen to it so as to make it work perfectly.
Look forward to watching it...

I've really enjoyed the series this far and with these improvements the next episode should much better, technically speaking.

Re: Batman: Vigilante of Gotham (Episode #3) - Nothing To Laugh At

Looking forward to seeing a serious Batman film, and judging on your past works it should be pretty good i'd say. I'd offer to do sound design, but it seems you have it covered. Call me when the casting call's up, I'll audition.

I'll be back animating soon! Exams and computer faults are keeping me away </3

Thanks mini/smile And you're free to help out with sound design if you want to. I'm gonna need all the high-quality sound effects I can get.

I don't have a full story written yet, but I will say that the episode will be exploring Bruce Wayne more than in previous episodes

Re: Batman: Vigilante of Gotham (Episode #3) - Nothing To Laugh At

ok, what about the title "battle from Within"
we must think alike, I'm going to focus more on his inner struggles and friendships then the actual fighting...
Batman is a nutcase... mini/lol

That's okay:) I actually make lego Batman movies too.

Re: Batman: Vigilante of Gotham (Episode #3) - Nothing To Laugh At

As of 5/4/2011, I have decided on the title. It will be titled "Nothing To Laugh At".

Also, Christian Chiarani and I hope to begin writing within the next couple of days. However, filming is being put on hold due to the impromptu revival of Joe Brickmond. We do plan to write the script, make the storyboards and hold auditions while I film Joe Brickmond 64 (the Joe Brickmond revival project) so that I can promptly begin filming the next Batman: VoG episode as soon as I'm done.

Re: Batman: Vigilante of Gotham (Episode #3) - Nothing To Laugh At

Due to working on Joe Brickmond 64 and another project I am working on, Batman: VoG #3 is being temporarily put on hold.

The last post on this thread was over 1 year ago. Please don't post old threads like these. Also, I'm pretty sure CJAproductionsINC has closed their YouTube account.
