Topic: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

http://i.imgur.com/sbO3n.png

It has been less than a year since man first walked on the moon, but as most Americans would now say, Apollo 13 is just another "Routine" space flight.  But flying to the moon is never routine.  Stranded in a crippled space ship astronauts Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert need to find how to get back home and fast before they get lost in space forever.  Meanwhile on Earth former astronaut Ken Mattingly, flight director Gene Kranz, and a hard working ground crew work around the clock to get the astronauts home safely.

All sound design is done by LegOpinions also known as Onion on the Forums.  I will have no part in the sound design other than possibly, music choice and finding voice actors.  Once I finish the script I will start a casting call in the audio forum so members can apply for parts of the script.

4/6/11 - Got the idea down, now I'm going to start scripting.
4/7/11 - New idea, now I'm going to watch the movie.
4/10/11 - Starting to write Scene 3 today.  I'm going to put a casting call up soon.

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

I wouldn't ask for the more "mature" members to voice act, just serious voice actors with good audio/microphone quality. Anyways, we'll try out for any of the parts (except for the President.)

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

You might want to watch the film "When We Left Earth". It has lots of good info on the Apollo missions. mini/smile

Well okay.  I sort of changed it.  Your right that someone could make a mistake about it.

Sorry, we weren't trying to insult your thread. Back on topic, this film has potential, I just hope that one person actually does finish a TOY entry (including us mini/tongue .)

JP, im just wondering why do you refer to yourself as "We" or "us"?

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

'Juggernaut Pictures' is a group made up of two brothers and a friend. So three in all. I am sorry for the off topic post.

I'm going to go to my public library tomorrow to see if they have it.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

This sounds like a great film! When Armstrong says the line, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," you've gotta play this music! I know it is from a different thing, but it would set the mood so well! If not that, then Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. Those would both go great with your film! (I'm not sure whether Copland is in the public domain though. Might wanna make sure of that before you enter the contest)

Overall this sounds like a great film! I probably wouldn't be very good in any of the voice acting roles though mini/sad

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

Update - I have decided to nearly change the story completely.  The story is now going to be along the lines of "Apollo 13".  I need to revise my script a little, and as it's already a movie (Which I am going to watch) I cannot use real life lines.  So yes, I will need voice actors.

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing it, but a word of advise - don't keep changing or eventually you'll find yourself out of both motivation and time. That aside, the idea sounds good, and I'll be looking forward to doing sound design work.

I'll be back animating soon! Exams and computer faults are keeping me away </3

Don't yah worry.  I'm sticking to this plan, I think it's good.  Also I'm going to need a LEGO Spaceship.  mini/wink

Re: Apollo 13 - Update Thread

Apollo 13 is a great story idea for a ToY film! how are you going to do the outer space scenes for the spacecraft? I would suggest setting up a black cloth and turning the lights way down dim, putting the model on the cloth, and animating it. I think it looks better than CGI. I did this in this film, towards the end.
Also I would suggest using Johann Strauss' "Blue Danube Waltz." That would go great with the film...

I was thinking off using keyframes or object tracking.  I'm not to good at CGI however.

What, are you trying to get him to remake 2001: A Space Odyssey?

Don't go with either of those suggestion, BB. They're far too cliché. Also, may I ask what the coloured lines in your signature mean?
