Should profanity be apart of a brick film? I feel in comedy's it gives it an added humor, but then takes away from the story because all you find yourself doing is waiting to hear more swearing. I am not against swearing, but the ones who make films funny and do it without swearing have my highest honor. I am just wondering if my films should include swearing or not...
Nah... Films are better without swearing in my opinion.
I was thinking the same thing, except I don;t mind the words "hell" or "damn" but anything else too heavy I would go with a censor over it, the typical "Beep".
Censor nothing. Whether it should be in a brickfilm, depends what kind of film you're doing. When done right, swearing can be hilarious.
EDIT: And do damn and hell even count as swears?
Oh, and bleeps are lame.
I personally don't swear, or use swears in my films, but I do think that if it's not used in the right circumstances, anything else will just sound silly, which only works if that's what you're going for. Either way, it's really all up to you. Most people aren't going to criticize you for putting swears in a brickfilm; people here do it all the time.
As for the question, "Should profanity be a part of a brickfilm," that's really a irrelevant point. It's your story, regardless of whether it's live-action or animated. What you make your film with should not dictate how you tell your story.
But I personally am against it.

I completely understand both points, and I agree profanity can be hiliarious at times. And I guess I just figured swearing and brickfilms should'nt go together because of I was thinking LEGO...being a small childs product. Exscuse my ignorance haha. But thank you for the input, very helpful. Might I say these forums are very helpful, you guys respond back quickly and do so with intellect. I don't ever feel uncomfortable posting with the fear of being made fun of, or turned into a laughing stock haha so thank you for being polite, nice to see there is still some of it in the world.

Have you seen The King's Speech? There's nothing wrong with swearing anyway, you can either use it to emphasize something in a good or negative way, or just say your reaction to something in one word. They're words, nothing wrong with words.
I don't curse in real life and I have thus far avoided it in my films...I think using cursing as a method of creating comedy is generally pretty lazy, but I must admit that adding a present-progressive f-bomb before something in the right circumstances ("look at that freaking hipster") does give it a kind of humor and impact that can't be faked with other words.

Try watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights on ABC Family. The censoring dulled it a bit.

I concur with what's been generally stated - if anything I'd be more against it, but it's completely up to you, as afore mentioned. I aren't familiar with your script writing skills, so I'd say keep it at a minimum to begin with, if you're using any at all.

Yeah, it is considered offensive, but it's not known as "THE MOST OFFENSIVE WORD EVER" at all, we don't even have that. Nobody even uses it because it sounds delightful, we actually use the English word f****ng. And if any word even would be the most offensive one, it'd probably be a racist slur.
Not to toot my own horn, but I would say my writing skills are very good, now although I have only written 2 scripts in my life (For school projects, and recieved a B on them) my best work is creative writing. With my mom being an English major, I was tought alot about sentence structure. I actually had a poem published in a book when I was in the 9th grade, and I won state because of it. (Toot)
Lets not try and turn this conversation into a curse word discussion. I think PoisonFilms has enough feedback anyway, IMO.
