Topic: Let's Make a (Brickfilmers') Timeline!

Where did we start?  Where do we end?  What is the most important brickfilming event?  Here I want to make a timeline of events that would be important to the brickfilming community.  So first off all, where do we start!?  I was thinking that we could say that The Magic Portal is where we began.  What do you think?  And hopefully we can build on this until we hit the future.

Just remember that when you name an event, name the year and if possible the month. mini/smile

Timeline:

1985 - The Original Movie by LegoMation Shorts
1989 - The Magic Portal by Lindsay Fleay

I like this idea, it could be interesting to see how the community has grown throughout the years. Unfortunately I don't have many dates for the timeline, though I do have a couple suggestions.

-those LEGO sports videos that were done a long time ago
-LEGO Studios theme
-Brickfilms.com
-list of annual contests
-THACs
-Refugee camp
-BiM released

You could also include some viral brickfilms, like 8 Bit Trip, The Force Unleashed, etc.

Often left out of the 'Earliest brickfilms' debate is WDLN's first brickfilms, which apparently were made in 1985.

Re: Let's Make a (Brickfilmers') Timeline!

Shouldn't the first event be invention of Legos? We would not be here without that...

Re: Let's Make a (Brickfilmers') Timeline!

Should we?  I was thinking about that but I would want to know what everyone else thinks.  A poll could come in handy.

I say nay, because Lego was around for a while before anyone thought to animate it. Besides, this is a Brickfilmers' timeline, so we can't have anything before people started to animate Lego.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

David Pagano compiled a nice timeline of brick animation for BrickJournal 14 - it might be a good source for some of those key dates.

Can you link me?  Also let's all agree that the release of LEGO isn't a part of our brickfilming timeline.

Anyone know when the first THAC was?  I can't find it anywhere.
