Topic: BiM's Unofficial Brickfilm Reviews
Yes, I am fully aware that most likely I'm going to be both slated, put down, and trolled for this, not to mention the fact I'll lose a lot of members respect for me, but I feel obliged to create this anyway. The title is pretty self explanatory, this is the unofficial review club for Bricksinmotion. Based almost completely off the actual Directory, this is where anyone can get full in-depth reviews of their work, by an assortment of different reviewers. No, I'm not doing this as a replacement to the current review system in place, I'm merely doing this as a temporary thing while the proper thing is getting sorted out, and an alternative.
There's also some features here that might be of interest to filmmakers that the current directory doesn't offer, or at least not to the same extent - for instance, as the reviewers here have more time, all films get reviewed. Also, as this isn't the flagship system for film ratings, we don't have to always go for a quick synopsis/overview, we can go further into it, getting more in-depth stuff. And finally films can get a variety of reviews on them, as apposed to just one, as all reviewers are encouraged to give their own opinions about the film, even if someone has already done so. Plus, at the end of every week I will put a selected brickfilm forward for guests to write a review on, there will then be a poll and the winner will get his/her review published as the primary one available for readers.
And so as you might be guessing by now I will indeed be looking for at least 4 reviewers to aid me on reviewing the various brickfilms. This will be decided by the public actually, in a similar way to the guest review of the week. I will post a brickfilm up shortly, and anyone wishing to have a chance at being a reviewer is encouraged to write their best review on it and send it to be privately, I will then post it on this topic, and then when there have been 20 resumes submitted the public can vote, and then the 4 most voted for reviewers will be added to the team. However, before submitting your resume I urge you to consider a few things - 1. Your time - how long you can spend at reviewing. I'm not asking for your constant unfaltering dedication, but consistency is vital, or this system is a waste of time. 2. What points are you rating on - whilst technicalities are important, an even more important factor is the story and entertainment value. How did the appeal to you? Did you enjoy it, despite the flaws with camera quality? and 3. Would you really recommend it? - You don't have to say something nice about it. Whilst it's important not to offend the creator, it's also good to point out the flaws. Subtly is always key to this.
And that's about everything. I'm prepared for any bombardment I receive, I just hope that there's people who appreciate this equally. Also, if you wish to get your film reviewed simply post a link to BiM Thread page in the releases forum, or the youtube link. I'll keep an update going on the main post (This one) about what films are next in line to be reviewed, and which reviewers want to review them. Hopefully you can expect a review in a week tops, but most likely a few days. Thanks.
I'll be back animating soon! Exams and computer faults are keeping me away </3
