Re: What was the last movie you watched?
Columbus Day
A pretty enjoyable movie. The pace is quite slow yet if you're not expecting non-stop action you should enjoy this one.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice
Well, I have to admit I was quite surprised. I thought it was gonna be one of those films where you new what was going to happen and how it was going to end at the start. It was pretty cliché..ish but I still liked it more than what I thought I would.
The only bits that annoyed me was some of the rubbish jokes they put in, some bits did make me laugh, but some of the 'funny bits' were just bad. It was still good though.
Limitless
Pretty good thriller. I need me a pill like that. ![]()
Push
Fantastic concept. The movie could have been amazing but it won't settle on one style.
Get's better towards the end though
3/5
TRON Legacy
Well it's pretty good, I wasn't amazed or anythin' but it still was enjoyable. I especially liked CLU character ![]()
The Social Network.
Uh oh, conflicting opinion time.
It was alright, but I can't really see what the big fuss was about. Yes, it was competently made, and the editing/directing was fantastic. The acting was well done considering what the creators were going for. My biggest peeve about the film is actually what most people liked best: the writing. The film was intelligently written, I won't deny that. However, I don't think anything about it was revolutionary. Making Zuckerberg to act like some kind of autistic genius was a ridiculous decision, IMO. I don't care that it isn't accurate. They can change his character any way they feel creates a better story; that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is that they went for such a cliche character: a guy who is so intelligent he doesn't realize that he's a prick to everyone around him. Basically, the flawed genius- flawed in social reaction, flawless in measure of intelligence. He's constantly overpowering people mentally in conversation, during the lawsuits, during his classes... and that's great, but it leads to the creation of a fantasy world surrounding Zuckerberg. For a film that wants to deal more with current "realistic" themes like greed, corruption, and betrayal, it starts to become irritating that this character who excels at everything fails to protect himself from other people. Maybe it could be chalked up to the fact that he "doesn't care for money", but even that is brought into question throughout the film by his own statements. We've seen antiheroes before, and Zuckerberg is just cast as an antihero whose main weapon is his mind. But the fact that he had the choice to be good or bad makes it difficult to sympathize with him. He was smart, not autistic. I understand that a film does not need a sympathetic main character to hold an audience, but when you're sitting there wishing every character would shut up and get off the screen, it doesn't make for a very engaging experience. I honestly felt like the core of Zuckerberg's character was what killed this film for me. Ultimately it made a character who could have been interesting and complex, feel flat and completely contrived. This wasn't a bad film. The score definitely deserved its win, and I wouldn't have been surprised if it won directing. I don't echo the sentiment that it was some how robbed of Best Film, though. It might have had the potential, but I really feel that in the end it missed its chances. I just couldn't take being slapped in the face so much with cultural relevance, yet seeing it all happen in a world which really shouldn't have existed given the characters we are shown.
I know a lot of people disagree, but I can't help but feel this way.
I agree with everything you have said, yet I still believe the movie was robbed and have no counter argument for your valid complaints.
I always saw Zuckerberg as a person who doesn't really understand how the world works. He is a computer genius, yet doesn't care for the money because he doesn't understand money. He is manipulated by the Napster guy because Zuckerberg is unable to make business decisions because he doesn't understand business all-together. And yeah, maybe that's clichéd, but I know loads of people in real life like that - which is probably why in the end I emphasise with Zuckerberg despite him being an 'anti hero'. But that's just my interpretation...
Amadeus: The Directors Cut
And...apparently the original version is better....
I love Amadeus. Fantastic film.
WALL-E
Fantastic movie, I love how even though all the robots never talk (except Auto) you can still tell how they feel and what they mean, it gives character to lifeless things.

RESIDENT EVIL - AFTERLIFE
Well I didn't really expect anything from this one. I mean it's pretty obvious if you watch RE franchise movies you gotta know it's gonna be dumb as hell but it's also gonna include some fine action sequences. This movie must have been pretty enjoyable in 3D too bad I saw it on my computer.
^ It's one of the few films I've seen where I actually enjoyed the 3D (usually I hate it).
The Evil Dead
Fantastic stuff. Probably my second favorite film ever (after Pulp Fiction, of course).
Evil Dead II
Definatley enjoyed it more the second time around. Bruce Campbell's acting is so cheesy in this one, you gotta love it.
EDIT: Dead Man
Wow. Great film.

Death from above movie
American Graffiti
I'm not an American from the 60's, so I dont get it. But its pretty fun...

I found the 3D to be really pointless, boring and stupid, although it looked great with the girl in the rain in the beginning (not sure if 3D made it look great)

Awesome, mine to.

Nope, that rain scene was lookin' great even without 3D. So yeah I guess it wasn't because of 3D it was awesome overall ![]()
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives
Really fabulous film; it has this enigmatic quality that I really really like. The best use of ghosts in a film since Ugetsu.
Nostalgia for the Light
Pretty good documentary about the Atacama desert in Chile. A few misguided special effects, but very compelling.
Good Morning
Probably the funniest Ozu film I've seen so far.

LOL
Battle: LA
Not horrible. But pretty unoriginal, I liked the fact that they deviated from not having scientists or presidents figuring out what to do. Instead they did the opposite.
