The new site host was a good idea, but the site (including the forums) aren't really running any faster that before. Also, when I go to log in, or change time/date/etc. the top 2 typing bars are squished together. Same with this comment box, I can pretty much only see the studs on the minifig emoticons heads.

I had that before the change. Just work around it. I've noticed that if you click 'Edit' almost instantly after you post, you'll see the minifigs and the Last edited at: sign won't appear at the bottom of the comment if you're quick. But I know the shortcuts to most emotes anyway, and I only use a few.

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

That's a problem with some older versions of Internet Explorer.  Internet Explorer is the worst browser ever, it's difficult to make a site work consistently in it.

As far as directory stuff...will need to get that looked into, I guess. The priority with changing hosts wasn't just about speed, it was mostly about problems with the old host as far as reliability and cost.  Many thanks to Schlaeps, who continues to pay for the hosting of this site.

Announcement banners are gone. Is this intentional?

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

The review section and film submission should be back to functioning now.

Same with me. It's a good thing I don't use the emoticons. But the squashed typing bar thing gets annoying because sometimes I can't see what I'm typing.

Yes, thank you, Schlaeps. Everything that's a problem is only a minor one that I can work around quite easily. The fact that the site is here at all is the main thing.

You had a picture? I simply had a sign reading: Updating! BRB!

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

I got a 404 error.

Me too. It doesn't really matter now, the sites back up and running smoothly. That's all that matters now.

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

I didn't read this thread, and when the website was down I almost died! mini/lol
It was lucky for me that Hazzat was on Skype at the time, and told me what was going on.

For me it went back and forth. It was mainly at the beginning when I saw the picture, but later on it went back and forth between that and UPDATING! BRB!

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

I heard stories about this "Updating! BRB!" thing.  I think that was Schlaeps; I made the image that was posted by Chris W. up there.  I'm not sure why some people got one and some got the other.

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

Did you two take turns updating, or did you work together?

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

It was mostly just Schlaeps and the webhost setting things up.  I prettied up the splash page that I was seeing but was about as helpless as any other site visitor during the downtime other than that.

In the morning I saw your picture but in the afternoon I saw the BRB thing.

Re: Hosting change and site downtime on Sunday

I always saw the 'BRB'.
I'm just glad the site's back!

Your image is awesome; the Updating thing was pure genius. It made the wait bearable.

Indeed. Though it's fun finding out the facts.

Found something that's still down... going into "View Votes" on a film page returns this:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare finduser() (previously declared in /home/bim/public_html/votes.php:29) in /home/bim/public_html/inc/functions.php on line 502

Did the Refugee Camp archive disappear as part of this? It's not working for me.
