Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Hells to the yes. This was awesome. Why can't they make more movies like this?

The Social Network
Watched it for the third time. Amazing movie even if not that faithful to the actual story.
127 Hours
Very great and intense movie, nice editing.
DUBBLE POST
Chinatown
I need to watch this again and pay more attention. Its meant to be regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, but I missed out the whole sub-plot about the corrupt water company - it just seemed to fade away. But again, I need to give this another viewing. A slow-paced movie like this deserves viewing earlier in the day when I'm paying more attention and am not as easily distracted.
To be honest, I wish I'd chosen to watch 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' - I've seen the beginning and it looks like an incredible movie. But it didn't boast in the Sky Menu description as being 'one of the greatest movies of all time', and didn't have an over-long intro by a guy telling us this that we are about to behold a spectacle like no other (OK, he didn't quite say it like that....)
Now, I'm off to see when its showing again so I can understand it better - but from what I saw, it seems as complex as an episode of 'Pirot' but with a shoe-horned message at the end of Chinatown being a 'corrupt, dark, and lawless place' instead of identifying an actual killer. But I need to watch again when I'm not tired (my parents and my cat fell asleep, and I was very close to joining them)
I wouldn't call it one of the greatest movies of all time, but it certainly is considered one of the best noir films of all time, at least to me. Very entertaining movie.
Despicable me
Eh.
I thought it was okay.
The way people talked about it, you'd have thought it would be the best movie ever.National Treasure
Um, it was interesting.
To of my favorite movies and you hated them
well i still love them. ![]()
Oldeuboi AKA Oldboy
This movie is extremely awesome. I've seen it many times and I never get tired of it. The music is amazing as well.
The Killer Shrews
Haha.
Reservoir Dogs
So awesome.
Evil Dead
One of the best horror movies ever.
Evil Dead II
Even better.

Yeah, I really do need to watch that movie again when I'm not half-asleep. From what I could see, the movie started out as an interesting murder-mystery, but spiralled into a sudden love story with a shoe-horned political message and left the whole 'whodunnit' storyline unresolved. I know that's probably the point, but in my drowsiness it annoyed me since it seemed to be building up a great conspiracy regarding the clean water being disposed of, when the city is supposed to be in a drought. But maybe it was resolved and I just wasn't paying attention...
OK, this is my Favourite Films of 2010 list (I have yet to see 'The Fighter', ‘Scot Pilgrim’, or 'Black Swan'). Some of my choices will no-doubt be questionable, but they are my choices - and I will explain why I have chosen them.
9. The Expendables
It contains a lot of gratuitous explosions, hyper-editing meaning we have no idea what’s going on, and virtually no plot. But at what part did I say it sucked? Sure, the throwback to 80’s action flicks with a dream team of action superstars could have been done a lot better (and could have made it much higher on this list if done so), but honestly – it’s still very entertaining. Mickey Rourke should have had a larger part.
8. Alice in Wonderland
It has huge flaws - and Tim Burton should stay clear of any more re-makes. But, this movie gave birth to one of the most entertaining and interesting villains I have seen in recent history: The Queen of Hearts. She is turned from the bellowing aristocrat in the Disney Version to an outcast from society due to her appearance. And Helena Boham Carter is hilarious in her 'Queenie’ (From 'Blackadder II') inspired portrayal. I just love how every solution is “OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!” She redeems the movie in my opinion.
7. True Grit
Rotten Tomatoes Review
6. Inception
Nolan is overrated. 'Memento' is one of the most innovative and interesting films ever made (IMO), but I do not think that every film he makes is a masterpiece. However, 'Inception' is what I have been asking for - a blockbuster that doesn't insult our intelligence. It’s no way near as intelligent as everyone says, and is easy to understand - but it’s still an incredibly enjoyable film.
5. Kick Ass
The title says it all. It’s just an incredibly well made satire of comic book heroes. I really don’t know what else to say…
4. Toy Story 3
I’m just overjoyed that I got to see another Toy Story movie, and the conclusion is one of the most intense, heartbreaking, and yet uplifting conclusion since…I don’t know. This is the closest I have ever come to crying at a movie – although I still have yet to cry at a movie (apart from when I was like…five years old – but that doesn’t count!). And it was really funny - although only the adults and teenagers were laughing...
3. Four Lions
It’s a British Independent film about a group of wannabe terrorists trying (and failing) to be terrorists. Sounds like crap, right?
Actually, it treats the subject of terrorism with a surprising amount of care. It’s not like how ‘South Park’ would do it; it actually respects terrorism, makes us understand why people do it, and has an incredibly strong anti-terrorist message at the end. It never really mocks terrorism – its just funny when they fail. The funniest movie of 2010, but then again - I'm a sucker for British comedies.
2. The Kings Speech
Oscar bait? Yes. Brilliant movie? Yes. A further achievement in British filmmaking? Yes. The fact it’s trying so hard to win Oscars means that what remains is an outstanding movie. Colin Firth is undeniably brilliant, Geoffrey Rush should keep doing more roles like this, and the script is only matched by my Number 1 choice. This movie makes me proud to be English, and proud that my country has a small yet brilliant film industry. Sure, it’s 'safe', and probably won’t be remembered in 10 years time, but for now it’s a charming and incredibly well-made movie.
1. The Social Network
It deserved 'Best Picture'. I hate to quote critics, but it genuinely is the most culturally relevant film since 'Citizen Kane'. This will be remembered not just in 10 years time- but 50 years time. And I quite honestly think that it'll hold up just as well as 'Citizen Kane' in 50 years time (although it’s not nearly as innovative). The academy clearly does not get this movie – and, surprisingly, I favour the Golden Globes decision here (although their decision on 2009s ‘Best Film’ has still made me completely ignore this ceremony – but at least they clearly understood this movies relevance, compared to the academy which mostly consists of 50 year olds)
Oh, and it has the best quote of 2010: “You’d better lawyer up a**hole!”

I fully agree with everything you just said there.
I forgot, I recently saw this:
Blow Out
Great movie, I liked it a lot. My 2nd favourite movie of Brian De Palma.
Halloween
Hot damn, that's got to be one of the best horror films I've ever seen. Scared the !@#$ out of me. I'd say it's scarier than The Exorcist, which many people seem to agree is the scariest film ever.
My favorite John Carpenter film so far, after The Thing.

My favourite Carpenter film is 'They Live'. It's not scary or anything but it's so amazingly entertaining. It's one of the most entertaining movies of all time. And as much as I love Halloween, it never scared me
The Thing did, though, to some extent.
Pirahna (2010)
Hilarious. This movie has everything you want in it, as long as you don't take it seriously. It has big pirahnas eating people; Ving Rhames, Doc. from Back to the future, naked girls etc. etc. The ending was kind of sudden, though.
Doc. from Back to the future, naked girls
Two things I never thought I would see in the same sentence - yet those things alone have sold me this movie....

Halloween scared the poop out of me when I first saw it, but with growing older the scaring effect faded on me, and I'm glad you saw Piranha, it's worth to check out in 3D.
-Darkman
Yeah, I really wanna see They Live but I can't find it anywhere.
Jason and the Argonauts
Awesome.
127 Hours
Amazing in itself. Could have put a little less focus on the actual cutting of his arm bit (which was gross) and more on what happens after but all-in-all a very good film.
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Love this movie. Still my favourite classic horror movie after seeing it for five times.
Piranha (2010)
Still great fun
I suddenly realise that this story is exactly like Gojira (1954), only with piranhas.
(Exploding gas tanks = oxygen destroyer, Piranhas = Gojira (both creatures from the Jura era) and they both come from hidden places in the sea)
Big Trouble in Little China
How can a movie be this entertaining? It seems so impossible. Kurt Russel is just hilarious, the whole movie is non-stop fun to watch. John Carpenter is awesome.
A Single Man
Rated R for DISTURBING IMAGES and Nudity/Sexual Content(NOT THE GOOD KIND). If you've seen the movie you'll understand what I'm saying. BEAUTIFUL cinematography, and probably the most inspiring editing I've seen in a long time. And incredible acting by Colin Firth. I just don't really understand why they picked that odd storyline and why it was in the 60's, since it seemed like that time period had nothing to do with the movie. It seemed like you could keep the story just as it was, set in the present. I'm not a prejudice BTW, some of it was too T(oo)M(uch)I(nformation) for me 'is all. Pretty well written story though, the message is good.
6/10
Rango
Weird film, very good animation and voice acting. I liked it mostly because it was sooo different from the usual animated film formula which even the likes of Pixar have started to go towards. Pretty nice score from one of Hans Zimmer's musical minions, whoever it was.
7/10
How To Train Your Dragon
I finally got around to seeing it... and it was pretty good. I can't even really find anything to nitpick about it. Okay, I didn't think the story was anything amazing, but what story there was was treated well.
Watched these back-to-back.
Vanishing Point
Love this movie. Best car chase film ever.
Mad Max
Again, awesome car movie. One of my favourite Australian films.
Death Proof
Pretty underrated movie, it has one of the best car chases ever, though the rest of the film is admittedley kinda slow. But you do need to see the rest of the movie and how much of a !@#$%^& Stuntman Mike is] to fully appreciate the chase at the end.
