While the LEGO Company is far from perfect (their recent actions regarding leaks have been somewhat ridiculous), making money is the primary goal for any company. The founders, owners, and workers may all have their own objectives for the company, but businesses exist to make money.
Also, LEGO continues to develop strong original themes. Ninjago, Power Miners, and Agents, are just a few quality examples of this in the past few years. The upcoming Alien Conquest theme and newest wave of the Kingdoms theme are excellent.
LEGO used to seem to care less about money; printed bricks, now stickers, the downgrade in plastic and ink quality on some of the minifigures. They just seem to be more focused on making money than they used to be. Same with the unoriginal themes, there used to be almost none, now there are quite a few. And while there are some strong original themes, most have very few sets, no storyline, and die off very quickly. Even I have to admit, Alien Conquest looks pretty cool and Kingdoms is one of my favorite current themes. But there have certainly been many changes in the past few years that turn more towards making as much money as humanly possible. Maybe I'm only realizing this now because I'm older, but I do feel that TLC is caring more about their money and less about their customers and quality of sets. [/rant]
