Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Region codes are BS and annoying.
@Brickyman: Yep, just google: (your DVD player model) region code crack or something. If you're lucky it'll work on your DVD, when you get the code to do it, it only takes a minute to set it to region 0 (all regions).

Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Finally got around to seeing it, and I quite liked it. Not Rodriguez's best work, but still pretty enjoyable. I love his style, especially his action scenes. They've got a real cartoony feel.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Despicable me
Eh.
I thought it was okay.
The way people talked about it, you'd have thought it would be the best movie ever.

National Treasure
Um, it was interesting.

American Grindhouse
Really cool documentary. Any exploitation or grindhouse fan should watch.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

BURIED

Wow now that's something unusual! Really the whole movie is shot in a wooden box with basically only one actor Ryan Reynolds. It was nice to see Ryan actually get to act and he proved that he's really talented. I recommend this movie to anyone it's an awesome thrilling experience!

The Haunting In Connecticut
Ahh. It feels good to know they made a movie based off a true story in the place (state) I live.
It was some-what scary.

They Live
Apart from a few really crappy fight scenes, this movie is actually very good.
"I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubble gum."

Amen
A good movie about the role of the catholic church during the holocaust.

Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace
Touches on the same topic, but isn't as good as Amen imo.

I always thought it was Duke Nukem who said that immortal line... though there have been a few variations, the one that sticks in my mind involving drinking milk. It still remains in my top five favourite quotes.

Scars Of Dracula

Most badass Dracula movie I have seen so far, really entertaining.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Chinatown

I need to watch this again and pay more attention. Its meant to be regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, but I missed out the whole sub-plot about the corrupt water company - it just seemed to fade away. But again, I need to give this another viewing. A slow-paced movie like this deserves viewing earlier in the day when I'm paying more attention and am not as easily distracted.

To be honest, I wish I'd chosen to watch 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' - I've seen the beginning and it looks like an incredible movie. But it didn't boast in the Sky Menu description as being 'one of the greatest movies of all time', and didn't have an over-long intro by a guy telling us this that we are about to behold a spectacle like no other (OK, he didn't quite say it like that....)

Now, I'm off to see when its showing again so I can understand it better - but from what I saw, it seems as complex as an episode of 'Pirot' but with a shoe-horned message at the end of Chinatown being a 'corrupt, dark, and lawless place' instead of identifying an actual killer. But I need to watch again when I'm not tired (my parents and my cat fell asleep, and I was very close to joining them)

What crappy fight scene are you talking about? I remember none in this incredibly entertaining movie.

When George Nada and Frank Armitage fought each other, the punching sounds were somewhat strange, and when the street preacher gets beaten up by the police, it was totally obvious that they hardly touched him...

It would have been great if you hadn't read the book first, but I did.

Agreed. I normally read books first, being an avid reader, so most of the time when I watch a movie based on a book I've read, I'll pick holes in the plot, or compare it to the book's story. I find myself quite annoying.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The biggest thing wrong with that movie is how it rips off Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. And the book does this too - although more subtlety and in a way that its still enjoyable.

Still, your ripping off good stuff.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

If you assume that everyone in the movie has taken a large dosage of Pixie Dust - its incredible. Sure, the Govenors daughter can be really annoying ("so what if...", "I dont care if..." Your supposed to be a deadly student trained by a lethal assassin/outlaw!! Stop acting like a 13 year old!) and for 2000 - the plot is kinda clichéd. The way the fighters move and duel reminds me heavily of Jedi (and bear in mind 'The Phantom Menace' came out 1 year before), and their 'rules' seem very Yoda-like. But I agree when people say its a work of art.

Ong Bak
I'm not sure whether I have watched a better martial arts movie before.

Hitman
One of my favourite movies. The music seemed pretty similar to the music of the Bourne trilogy to me.

Jumper
Pretty cool. Still, this movie was basically an excuse to film at the most awesome places on earth mini/wink

YYEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!

I seriously cannot find anything wrong with this. An incredibly entertaining movie that's worth a watch for fans of the Superhero Genre (just ask your parents first...)
