Just another quick Blender question: Is there any particular increment with which you should bevel the brick, or do you have to do all the beveling manually?  We want the bevels to look the same for every single brick, but we can't seem to do that manually.

I join all the bricks (Ctrl+J) and then add a bevel modifier. I usually use a width of .005 but you can play around with it until it looks good to you. mini/smile

I now seem to be having the same problem as BB. I did everything Lechnology said to do, and I have python installed. If it helps, my Blender 2.49 folder is in the D:\ driver (That's also where my LDraw\Parts folder is, and that's where my script is set to)

So the LDrawPath variable is set to "D:\Ldraw"?  If so and that still doesn't work, it is certainly a quandary.

Also, don't bevel until you've read this.

So I finally got the smoke simulator working.

That came out real nice Littlebrick.

I finally found the blender 2.53 installer on my computer. 2.56 just doesn't work.

Could you do smoke from something like a chimney, like on a locomotive?

Oh, definitely.

What about a cig? *snicker*

Re: The CGI Thread

Very nice.  How long did it take to render?

Re: The CGI Thread

Don't know much about CGI but can someone GUIs me to some blender tutorials

Re: The CGI Thread

Lech, I'm not really sure. I got up at around 10-11 am this morning and started baking right away, and by 3 pm (I had to render twice, because the first version didn't compress properly) I had the avi.

Re: The CGI Thread

Now with fully detailed interiors:

Re: The CGI Thread

thats awesome

Re: The CGI Thread

Really nice job on the Smeagol, however, in my opinion the windows need to be just a tiny bit more transparent. I don't think it would be feasible to see through those well enough to navigate through space. Truly beautiful model though.

Re: The CGI Thread

The lighting inside seems strange(if it even exists), there are very long shadows, the lighting inside should be more even, like a store or gym, with many lights.  I disagree with BG though, navigating would still be possible, and is the bridge not up top?

Re: The CGI Thread

The bridge is the thing at the top, yeah.

The ship is very dimly and unevenly lit on the inside, and the windows are definitely heavily tinted -- because sunlight in space would be unsafe without heavy shielding, and also because the interiors quickly become a visual distraction if you can see them clearly; I'd rather just hint that they're there.  As is the case with many tinted windows, it's easier to see out from inside than it is to see in from the outside.

The interior environments are all fully detailed and modeled; the majority of the film I made this for takes place inside this ship.

Re: The CGI Thread

Woah. That looks like something you would see on Star Wars the Clone Wars (and that show has really great CGI).

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: The CGI Thread

Really cool, but maybe you could add some reflections to the metal?
