hello. I was just wondering, are there any sets / what was the last set to have the original minifigure head? You know, yellow with just two simple dots for eyes and a smiley mouth. I've got loads of them, but in recent sets I've bought all the heads seem to be more detailed. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just asking.

i think when the first pirates sets came out
its was the beginng of the end for them
in fact i am sure the last ones were dotted about in 2006 with star wars!
According to Bricklink, there were only two sets released in 2010 with the plain smiley; the Grand Emporium and Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol.5.
That doesn't mean you could only buy two sets with plain smileys last year - there were still some that were released in 2009 (like the Fire Brigade) and maybe 2008 that were available.

also the echo base from 2010 have got a flesh version you can get it off amazon:lol:
You can buy the Santa Claus Keychain and remove the metal part of his head (The head is not glued) http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=850150-1. I think they are available, bicause I saw them in the LEGO stores in 2010. There is not big hole on his head, when you will look at this from the front, you will not see the hole inside the stud.
