Topic: Helium Frog: Setting Problems

Hey guys, I recently (end of December) switched to Helium Frog for animating, but I have a problem. Say, I'm halfway through a shot of someone talking and I had to turn helium frog off. The next time I open it up, all the settings will be different, EG: the white balance, the focus. And no matter how much I try to adjust it to look the same, it doesn't.
Monkeyjam evaded this problem because it had numbers on the settings which you could just wright down and put in the next time you opened up Monkeyjam.
So how do I stop this problem? mini/confused

Re: Helium Frog: Setting Problems

The camera settings have nothing to do with Helium Frog software as it doesn't directly control them. If i remember rightly Monkey Jam just exposes the direct X driver form so you can change the settings. This will change depending on what camera you have connected. You should still be able to get to this form via the windows start button. Start > control panel > System > Hardware. Find your device and click settings. This should show the form that Monkey Jam shows. You can leave this open and adust it whilst Helium Frog is running.

Make sure you have the software loaded for your camera. Usually there is an icon so you can access the settings from them rather than going via the control panel.

You can usually have this open alongside Helium Frog to adjust your camera focus etc. For example the QC9000 has a settings box that comes up when helium frog aquires the camera connection. This gives you full access to all the camera features.

Try where possible to set your camera to all manual settings otherwise you will get flicker. It is also good practice to complete scenes that will be shown together in the same session, that way you will minimise changes in light levels.

Re: Helium Frog: Setting Problems

Thanks, but when I open up Harware, (or as it says on my computer, vista, device manager) and open up the thing which says "Logitech Webcam Pro 9000" it doesn't let me see the same thing as in monkey jam, it only shows things to do with the actual webcam, not how it sees through the camera.

Re: Helium Frog: Setting Problems

When you close Helium Frog, do you close the Webcam Controller as well? If you have to close Helium Frog, close it, but don't close the Webcam Controller. Also, finish the scene you started before closing. If you can't, break it up into smaller scenes.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Helium Frog: Setting Problems

I'm talking about when I have to go to bed and turn the computer off. So the webcam controls close as well.

Re: Helium Frog: Setting Problems

Oh. That never happened to me and I use Stop Motion Pro. Sounds like it has to do with how Helium Frog sees things. But evidentally, it changes it and there's no way to make it stop doing that. I would just stick with Monkeyjam if I were you. Or, like I said before, finish the scene before you turn off the computer.

Here is a tutorial that I made to help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5qwMW7Ixjk mini/smile

It explains the settings. I know that you will know the settings. I would recommend having a break in between shots, not pictures
