Topic: New Computer

Hey everyone i've been working heavily with graphics for a while now but my computer is out of date and just can't run the programs I want.  I was wondering if anyone out there could suggest a good computer for me to buy for under 200 dollars.  Thanks!

Re: New Computer

What programs do you run and that would give a better idea as to what you need

Cannot compute. ≠
Raise your budget higher if possible, otherwise make do with what you have.

Re: New Computer

Tejas is right.
There isn't a good, high-graphics computer for less than $400.
You might want to look into an entertainment laptop, but desktop computers are cheaper.

Re: New Computer

You might look into building your own computer - you can save substantial amounts of money.

Re: New Computer

As Jargon said, buying parts from say Newegg or NCIX are good places to get parts.
Look into a good graphics card and a good Ghz rate. 1.6 is okay but I use it and After Effects runs a bit sluggish so does dragon and a few others. Look at say a 2.2 Ghz or so.
AMD processors ftw.

Re: New Computer

You're not going to get a very good computer for $200, so save up for $400 + and build you own with sn i3/i5?

Those aren't exactly budget computers you know. mini/wink

I agree with Jargon on this one. Building your own computer is much cheaper and sometimes you even end up with a more powerful machine. But $200 still isn't going to be enough to build a decent computer. You're going to need to cough up at least $400 or maybe even $500 to build something capable of editing and rendering.
