I have a habit of missing the point. Please explain what styles are there?

Probably just doing what you've not done before - maybe making Lego fly, experimenting with different viewpoints, or just designing a plot that's different from your norm e.g. a serious film. Basically, if your TOY entry is set in the past but is a step out of your comfort zone, then it should be eligible for both contests.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Nope, it seems like a rather inoffensive word, unless there's some cultural barrier I don't know about.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

That's made me really want to know the word now. mini/lol

With two competitions (TOY & Impossible Mission) being hosted around the same time is it acceptable to create a single entry to enter in both?

This is a difficult one.  It looks like the MI contest has a deadline the day before you're allowed to start submitting for TOY. I'm not sure exactly how their submission process will work, personally I'd like to avoid people double-dipping but if you can make it work within the rules for both contests it is permissible on my end.  At any rate, you certainly could not make your TOY entry publicly viewable before the set time.

It's not a term I'm familiar with, I asked some of the mods originally for suggestions to be censored.  Not being British, I don't know how offense the term is.

So the original question...can I use it or not?

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I dunno.   I'm not British.  Would it offend contemporary British sensibilities? I'd have to get some opinions on that.  I feel like this forum is not going to be the best point of reference, though, because many people here say stuff like "why is f*** offensive, it's just a word"

I say just leave it, because it's not worth fighting for. You can live without it, and I bet you'll never say it again.
Back on TOY. I have concluded: I won't be making and entry.

Thanks for that.

I'm British, and as you worry that this 'offensive' word will be insulting to a Brit, I can safely assure you that it is not a swear word, simply a bit rude. I have no idea why it was censored...

EDIT: Woah, Smeagol... how did you get a massive avatar? A perk of being a moderator, or a new feature?

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Well, none of the prizes really enthusiast me.
Reasons:
Dragon stop motion - my camera doesn't open in a frame capturing program
Snowball Mic           - I rarely use a mic, and I don't voice act. I already got a guitar hero microphone.
Lego                       - I already have enough lEGO.

I can live without entering a contest. 50 % of my videos on youtube are for contests, I want more videos I made for fun other than videos I made because I had to because of a contest, so I choose not to enter.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

You have to believe in the yes.

In other news, progress on my western is going slowly, and I dunno if it'll be an entry into TOY, as I want to put all my heart and SOUL into it.
