Topic: Camera dilemma

Hello all peoples of the world!

Seeing as my CS330 is now out of date and no longer has driver support for my Windows 7...(Thanks Intel...) I am in the market for a new camera. I have it narrowed down to the QC9000 and the C910. Here is my issue. My local best buy is having a sale on the two, the 9k for $64.99 and the c910 for $79.99 (down from 79 and 99 respectively) and I am split on which to get.

I like the quality of the C910 from what I have heard and seen but the focus is a bit better on the 9k with the 1% focus "notch" for lack of a better term. Plus I use generic Anasazi (never cared much for monkeyJam) so the white balance setting I have been reading about with the C910 would be an issue. Horror stories on multiple reviews I have read also seem to suggest that the C910 is hit or miss with Win7 compatibility. However on the other hand the 9k will get older quicker and lose driver support like my CS330 and 4k did putting me back in this pickle again.

Anyone have any input on this? Just a tidbit on the fence on my end and need a push to one side.

As for your 4000 dilemma, it actually does not need any drivers to work properly on windows 7. Just plug it in and you will be notified of a driver failure. Dont panic. This is fine and just use monkeyjam or any other capture program (in compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 2 or 3) and you are up and running. As for the C910, in Monkeyjam there is a way of controlling the white balance under Monkeyjam's own camera settings dialogue (no the one that came with the camera) There will be a little slider that says white balance, adjust that and bam you're up and running yet again.
My opinion? Get a C910, if you dont like the white balance issue, dont fret, logitechs next software update will most likely include white balance support because of such a wide uproar in hate for the removal of it.

I wouldn't worry too much about drivers, it will take a while before the pro 9000 goes out of date, but it would best to check if it's compatible with Windows 7. With some software it doesn't matter if windows can't recognize it. My canon Hv40 is not recognised by windows xp, but helium frog can pick it up (but it can't support HDV) and Dragon Stopmotion can as well. But monkey jam can't. If I was you, get the 9k.

@VIM Yeah I did actually try that with the 4k but all but I think 2 of my settings were greyed out and locked. I had like zero control over anything. I personally don't care for Monkeyjam all that much, might just be me.

@Ratboy Hey ya never know. I didn't think my CS330 would lose driver support but Intel gave me the middle finger on that one.

Yeah the driver support cuts off at Vista so I had a total "FUuuuuuuu" moment. lol
