Topic: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

Hello guyz
ok, so most of you probably don't know me, i am new to the forums, but anywayz, i have had an idea floating in my head for like 2 or 3 years now, maybe longer, and i deisded TOY would be the perfect use for my idea, which i have been to lazy to make xD.
On to the idea!
Basic story line:
1. 1987, when the universal remote first came out, it still had some odd glitches... a man orders one (still need to figure out name.)
2. Arrives at his door, unpacks it, jumps in his comfy chair, and presses a button.
3. Gets sucked into TV, and pops up in a cave man place/cave...
4. something happens to him there, (maybe has to get back to his chair?) then he presses the remote and is teleported to a Roman Gladiator arena where he finds himself in the middle of 2 charging Gladiators (again maybe getting back to his chair?) and presses the button.
5. Teleported to a pirate sence, not sure what will happen here really...
6. Western  next, in the middle of a show down at noon... or maybe cowboyz vs. indians?
7. not sure what will happen after that...

So ya, as you can tell, it is a really really rough idea... it still needs a lot of help...
Any ideas? thoughts?
would really like some input, as this is actually my first planned out lego animation ever xD

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

Sounds good...even though this is a little more sci-fi. Here's an idea how to end it: he gets teleported to the Titanic. He falls into the water, the remote with him. The remote shorts out and the guy ends up back home. How's that? Also, for a name, how about Calvin Krent?

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

really? you think it is sci-fi? even though he is going through history?

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

The fact that he is time traveling is what makes it science fiction.

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

Not necessarily. Just because he moves say 30 years into the past in the blink of an eye doesn't make it Science Fiction.

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

and also, the UNiversal remote is not Sci-fi

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

Okay, so sci-fi was the wrong term to use. How about ti-fi (technological fiction)? Well, the majority of its historical fiction, so it'll be fine for TOY.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

I hope we can all agree that time travelling is impossible with the universal remote. I think we also can agree that unless the travelling takes place with magic, it has to be science fiction. If this travelling is magically induced, then the story is fantasy. Whatever, that is not important. The theme wants a film taking place in history. This is more of a modern story where there are occasional visits to historical time periods. CJsuner, just because the elements in the story are not post-modern, doesn't make it non-science fiction.

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

Time travel doesn't always mean a science-fiction story plot. A prime example of this would be "The Devil's Arithmetic."

But in this case, yeah, it's science-fiction.

okay...fine..
back to the drawing board....

Re: The Arm Chair Travler (TOY)

Well, look at the Back to the Future movies. The plot centered around time travel, yet the story didn't have very many scientific qualities about it. Sure, it may have contained scientific content (1.21 jigawatts, flux capacitor, etc.), but the story itself was not scientific.
