I still need this answered:
[...]could one release a trailer for his film before the contest deadline, or does that violate the rules?
Smeagol said there will probably be a trailer contest for it.
I deleted my own context. The question pertained to if there wasn't a contest.
Oh, I'm not sure then.
Sorry I haven't kept up with this thread recently. I know I asked people to stop pm'ing me questions about the contest and post them here instead.
Would we be aloud to, say... Make an update video with a small amount of footage from it (with no audio) for an update video or something? Or is this request to preposterous for Smeagol to allow?
Yes that's fine.
As far as trailers, you can post a trailer at any time you want, but such a trailer won't be eligible for the trailer contest. It can't contain the majority of the movie in it, either. The trailer contest probably won't happen until June or early July; it may or may not have a prize but there will likely be some kind of winner and commendation.
Hey, can I use audio from a CBS news cast in the 60's?
It'd probably be adviseable not to, something from the 1960s would still be under copyright. I don't know how easy or difficult it would be to get permission to use something like that.
I suppose it's true that a lot of recent history would lend itself to use of copyrighted elements. I like to try to keep the bar for this contest high by challenging people to make films that aren't reliant on preexisting materials -- it can be more difficult, but in the end you have a film that would be eligible for "real" film competitions, festivals, etc.
I envy you Smeagol

Wow, veeery relative to the TOY discussion.
You might want to try expanding on why exactly you envy him. I mean, obviously he is envied for his dashing good looks, mature sense of humor, and his total awesomeness, but what else?
You've seen him and, not only that, JUDGED his looks?... Sorry, that wasn't really relevant, but in fairness, nor was your post. ![]()

Hahaha, no, I haven't seen him, I was only joking around. Though, if you want to be really technical, my post was relevant, because I was helping to promote better post usage and hopefully get the thread back on track.
Now, to do just that, I have a question. By more than 50% stop motion animation, does that mean that all movement has to be more than 50% real Lego, or does it mean more than 50% of all Lego bricks have to be real?

I think it means that >50% of the actual movement has to be real. I'm sure that greenscreening in a "fake" background in post would not affect anything in that regard.

Okay, that's good. I don't think my movie would be possible to make if the real Lego had to be more than 50%.

I do hope you read the post above me.

With two competitions (TOY & Impossible Mission) being hosted around the same time is it acceptable to create a single entry to enter in both?
Well, that's certainly an odd preposition.

That won't be too difficult, as long as there is a style of animating you have never used before in your TOY entry then it would be suitable for Mission: Impossible
Is "git" a swear word? As in calling someone a git?
EDIT: What the....

I have a habit of missing the point. Please explain what styles are there?
