Topic: The Invention of Halitosis

I am excited to announce my entry to TOY, The Invention of Halitosis. TIOH will be my longest released brickfilm yet, with a runtime of 3-5 minutes. I've outlined the story and begun some preliminary building and hope to have the script completed by the end of the week.

WWI is over and the Roaring Twenties are in full swing! Against the backdrop of a booming economy, Gabriel Garrison enters the field of marketing, full of radical new ideas that are sure to shake up the establishment. Will his ideas prove successful? And what happens when life starts imitating art – or in this case, advertising?

Should be very interesting, I see lots of people have had to do a little research for this contest mini/smile

Seams like an interesting idea

I can't brickfilm for now. See you guys later.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Sounds cool! Sounds like It's A Wonderful Life mixed with Back To The Future, a bit.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Did you design some of those torsos yourself?

Brickfilmer a decade ago, now looking to relive the glory days mini/smile

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Nope. All of the torsos used are stock LEGO. The only change I made was swapping in flesh-colored hands.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Sounds very interesting... and amusing?  Can't wait to see how you work in the title's topic.  I would have thought that it was around prior to WWI - like the first time Adam had garlic and onions. mini/lol

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

The concept is very interesting! I see that you don't use the yellow Lego heads mini/XD

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Looking good.  I'll be keeping an eye on this thread mini/wink

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

I will recommend now Fletcher Henderson as a sample for the music of the time. This is by far my favorite genre of music, and I consider it the best!

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

I'm wondering why you used pale skin instead of yellow skin.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Perhaps he felt it would work out best for his film.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Thanks for the links, mccoov. mini/smile

I chose to use the flesh-toned heads because I think it fits the real-world historical feel I'm trying to achieve. I love the classic yellow heads, of course, but I think the flesh look can be neat too.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Quick update: I've been nearly finished with the script for a few days, but I'm still trying to track down one last crucial bit of research. I actually put in a call today to my old high school librarian, so we'll see what happens next.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Sounds very intruiging. (did I spell that right?) I'll be watching this thread for updates.

Sounds awesome. I'm looking forward to a few ToY entries; this is one of them.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

The script is finished! Also, my initial estimate of 3-5 minutes was proven inadequate - it's looking closer to 8. That's a bit of a daunting number, but given the time between now and the deadline and the fact that most of the shots should be relatively modest, I think I've got a fair chance of this.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Fantastic. I wish you the best of luck.

Re: The Invention of Halitosis

Wow, Jargon your camera quality is amazing, do you use a DSLR? Anyway, the film sounds like a good idea. Although I don't really see what the films really going to be about from the description you've given, I love the idea of a 20s brickfilm. With a not too detailed description it makes something to look forward to, a bit of a surprise. Love the character design too, the flesh looks really good.
I think TOYs going to get a lot of good entries, like this, Fateful, and hopefully mine.
