I use EOS Utility, when you are on a mac, free image capture software that works with the T1i is hard to come by, so Canon's image capture program is good enough for me. Sometimes it crashes, but I never lose anything, settings are saved on the camera itself, and pictures go directly to my hard drive. One of these days I need to invest in Dragon though.
I just switched to HF. But now I don't know how to mask frames taken in it.

I have recently been forced from iStopMotion to some type of PC software (reason being my iSight decided to give me two dead pixels right in the middle of my lens.../sigh). So I've spent most of my day trying to find different software and cams.

For you PC stop motion veterans I had a few questions that I hope someone could help me out with. It seems like Dragon is by far the best out there (my understanding only...never used it), but as a new comer to this exciting form of entertainment, the price tag seems a little steep...for me anyway.
Do you think it would be best to use something like Helium Frog (i need the onion skins...sorry) and save the money for Dragon, or should I get something more middle of the road like "Stop MotionMaker" and if so, can someone tell me the difference between Helium Frog and Stop MotionMaker.
Any insight you can provide would be very much appreciated.
Well, you're definitely safe trying Helium Frog - it's free.

You go to the settings in HF, click "export as individual frames" (it's something like that). This will make it export individual frames ( 
) and then you edit those pictures in whatever editor you use. You then save the picture, and put all the individual frames into your movie making program thingy. It kinda puts to waste HF's video output feature, but it's overall better as individual pictures. Also it makes it a whole lot easier to delete/copy pictures outside of HF.

Any Mac users here? Framethief is my favorite software. The frame-averaging is awesome. It used to be free, but now you have to register after thirty days for $40... I'll be buying it, as I think it's well worth the money.

YA There are mac users here but most mac users use istopmotion witch for $49 is way better than Frametheif
Screw tht last Comment I am Still going to use my Web cam capture feature an returning back to my webcam
Why don't you just use your webcam with MonkeyJam?

Was Helium Frog, but when I got my new Camcorder, I found out that HF can't support HDV. So I bought Dragon Stop Motion and it is incredible.
I'm using monkeyjam but I hope to switch to dragon
I use Stop Motion Pro 7 and its great! I especially like the Editor feature because with it, I don't have to figure out the pauses beforehand.
I'm thinking about switching to Helium Frog...could I get some pros and cons on the program?
