Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

You won't be able to make it look clean and fluid without using computer editing techniques, you need to do something we call MASKING.

I made a tutorial on how to mask in GIMP, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KH-y2_Ew9L0 .

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

1 minifig, a sheet of blue card, some blu-tak/sticky-tak/whatever. Watch out for shadows on the card.

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Or that, but it wont look as clean and you will have to make sure you hide the blue tac all the time.

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

I actually would recommend not doing masking until you have some basic animation skills under your belt.

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

I agree with night owl...computer animation is alittle advanced for new brickfilmers...fishing line or magician wire works. mini/smile

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

This isnt computer animation, its image editing, you could even do it on paint.

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

i agree with you on that rsteenoven...but some people are still drawing stick figures on paint and not grasping the endless possibilities what paint can actually do. But if you know paint and use it properly, go for it.

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Why don't you just download GIMP, its free and you will be able to mask easier than on paint.

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Yeah, it's very simple also

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Re: How do you animate characters into the air??

Get Gimp-GAP, use Bluebox, specifically the VALUE setting.  If you can film with your blue/green screen a long way in the background, that will reduce the reflections off the super-glossy Lego pieces.  If you're able to control the depth-of-field, go fairly shallow, but not very shallow.  An aperture of between 5.6 and 11 works well when your key colour is in the far background.

And that's all there is too it.  Free, quality blue-screening.
