Topic: camera not showing in frame capturing program

i just got the panasonic fz3f for christmas. it does everything i want it to do- except one thing. mini/blankexpression

i can't open it up in my frame capturing software (helium frog). is there some way of doing animation another way instead of taking and image sequence, then taking the SD Card and putting it into a video? because if i do that, i might get camera bumps and what not.

Re: camera not showing in frame capturing program

Search online for some camera capture program that fits the panasonic requirements. Otherwise see if it can have some other way of remote capture. And if all else fails, build one heck of a sturdy tripod/mount! mini/tongue

Re: camera not showing in frame capturing program

You can get a control pad at your nearest tech store
Plug it into your camera and it takes pictures by a click of a button
= NO camera bumps What not

Re: camera not showing in frame capturing program

but a problem with animating if i do that- there would be no onion skinning. even if i didn't bump my camera- i can bump the set (or minifig) i'd have to become perfect or find some way of onion skinning.

Re: camera not showing in frame capturing program

Onion skinning isnt nessicary
Ive been without it for 2 years

Re: camera not showing in frame capturing program

Same here. Lucky for me, my camcorder came with a remote, but I'm perfectly fine without onion skinning. I actually have no idea what that is, anyway, (ph, DerTarchin is a nooooob).

o wait- my program (i'm watching a tutorial (i'm lame mini/XD )) anyways- my program has image stablization- so it reduces bumps. i think it is what after effects has.

EDIT: here's a test- sorry if youtube darkened it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct5uMQvgD7M

ok, i think i know why my camera won't show up in my frame capturing program. when i plug the camera into my computer with the cord which was supplied, my computer detects my camera as a storage device:

is it possible for my computer to change it from a removable storage device to a camera? if that's possible, this might work.

EDIT: ok, I know what to do. My camera does not have a live video out feature, and that is why i can not open it up in a program. but it's possible by rigging it a tad. i have to plug my camera into it's composite cable, then i must order online an Easycap USB video capture device. then i plug that into the composite cable, and plug that into the computer. mini/XD a bit confusing- but it makes sense. But the bad part is that i'll have to wait for that piece to arrive before i can actually properly animate with this new camera.

Re: camera not showing in frame capturing program

Eh, personally, I have an easycap. It gives only 640x480 quality so I would say just get a remote for your camera. Also it will show all the settings on the camera screen show up on the live view. Either that or get a Pinnacle converter. Those are a bit expensive, but its a hell of a lot better than an easycap.
