Topic: Mass-PMing?

Hello.

I have noticed that we don't have mass PMing. This can be a problem if you need to PM more then one person the same thing. EVERY forum I am in has it.

Why don't we have it? (is it coding issues? is it a choice that we can impliment?)

To prevent spambots from sending spam messages to everyone in the community, I guess.

Re: Mass-PMing?

I don't see a convincing enough argument for needing it, personally.

So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

Re: Mass-PMing?

Because we have email, bbcode links, and images. So I really don't think that we need attachments. At all.

As for mass PMing, it's pretty rare that anyone needs it, so I don't think that's much of an issue either.

Re: Mass-PMing?

Eddie, I wouldn't like someone to send me a PM with a virus attached to it, would you?

Re: Mass-PMing?

We don't need the PM function to be e-mail. That's what e-mail is for.

Re: Mass-PMing?

Yeah, a mass pm function could easily be abused, or at least become annoying.  Such large-scale correspondences are better suited to email, given the capacity limitations of this site.  Part of the issue is that there are so many inactive accounts you'd be doubling the number of PMs in the system every time you send out a new pm to everybody. I wouldn't trust probably 95% of the active users on this site with such a feature.
