I was thinking something medieval or 14th century. A little different from what I've seen in this thread I guess.

To answer a question I've been asked in several PMs publicly, "period pieces" are fine.  You could have a fictional story that you made up, but set it in the 1940s and it'd qualify as historical fiction.
