The 1960s would be fine, as with any other historical period. I would like to avoid people doing things like saying that a story fits the theme because, by nature of being a movie, it is a story told in past tense.
Something that would fit in the realm of "historical fiction" would be fine.
I might just go with my first idea, but does this mean I could make a Jekyl & Hyde film set in Victorian Britain?
EDIT: nvm, people replied before me

I suppose so...
If it's got a historical setting/basis, you're fine, folks. Please don't ask for every specific plot idea if it fits the theme. The key is that the contest is historically themed and we want films that aren't set, at least entirely, in the present day, this can take many forms.
Sorry, Ive just been obsessed with Jekyll and Hyde recently..
O my holy waffles above! I am super cereal excited!
OHHHHH!!!!
GOT AN AWESOME IDEA!
But I probably will fail at it because of the masking it will require...
Unless I think of some way without masking that will be awesome and that will require almost no effort...]

Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks
After she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty one
Now THAT's good history.
