For the record, I didn't close the original, but I can easily see why. "Which brand/type of software/hardware/etc. do you like/is the best/etc.?" threads (for example, the Mac vs. PC thread a while back) don't spawn intelligent discussion, just ungrounded statements of personal opinion that often devolve into flamewars. This thread contains a similar discussion, so I'd look there if you really want to see what people like and dislike about the free frame-capture programs out there.

EDIT: Also for the record, mccov had nothing to do with its closure. He doesn't have mod powers, and there were no reports made about either of these threads.
