Re: Mac or PC?

Well for my whole life I have been using Windows computers, I remember my first video game on the pc, I was about 5. At the age of about 11, I basically mastered windows. Then years later I discovered, a Mac. Such a sleek design, I honestly got it for looks. I was disappointed of the fact of the incredibly hard to learn programming on a mac. So I ignored the programming, but kept using it for Movie creation and music creation. I guess I am no longer a PC, I am a mac.

macs suck--http://i3.squidoocdn.com/resize/squidoo_images/-1/lens12786811_1282015757spinning-wheel-mac.jpg

OH! Sorry, I got blocked by the stupid wheel.

Myself however, I use Vista for animating, and editing, but I also use Ubuntu/Linux, which is teh BOMB

Re: Mac or PC?

Can you upgrade a Mac? I don't think so? What you get is what you have. You can't replace it's CPU or hard drive, etc. And it's not open-sourced like a PC. Can you add an Intel Core i7 Extreme 3.33 ghz CPU to a Mac?
.........Nope mini/no .

was that intended to me? if not, o well, i'll tell you how to turn a mac into a pc.

Like i said:

I think we'd hold down control while holding down the power button to turn it one. Then comes up a small screen which has two hard drive pictures labeled PC and MAC. click the one you want. but i'm not entirely sure if i'm right, but it's possible because i've done it.

Another way is boot camp. Mac OS X v10.5 and later have boot camp in them. i'm referring to this article. see? it's possible, and in the beginning of this small article it says:

Using Boot Camp, the entire Mac is turned into a Windows PC, with the full capabilities and speed of a standard Windows machine. No trace of the Mac operating system is left running. The downside is that you can’t run Windows and Mac programs side by side.

so, even though i don't have a mac, i've used it before in school. so i'd get that type of mac ( a Mac OS X v10.5 and later ) and follow those steps. i'm not sure if the logitech quickcam/webcam pro 9000 will still run on the pc though....

o well.... i least i did something....right?

Re: Mac or PC?

I use Mac and Mac has always been based on GRAPHICS, so for editing and editing I suggest Mac. For filming the best way to go is Mac but that means you need to buy a HDTV camera to get a really good image result. I use a webcam for Mac that is HD and pretty good. You could use that option. For more details visit my website----  http://stormwproductions.webs.com/
SO if you want to spend a lot of money buy Mac and get FULL HD results but otherwise buy PC.

I am a Brickfilmer that wants to succeed in becoming a director and maybe own an animation studio.

Macs are fantastic, so are PC's but the fact is for brickfilming PC's are better.

I use a webcam for Mac

You can do that on PC. What webcam is it? You probably have no manual controls, which is no use in brickfilming, however nearly a PC can usually give support and give it manual controls.

Mac and get FULL HD

So do PC's. And PC's can have higher resolution screens as well so...

Mac has always been based on GRAPHICS

True, but PC's can have much better graphic cards than Mac's, but if this is the OS I agree.

so for editing and editing I suggest Mac. For filming the best way to go

Nope, you can get better PC's than Macs (Processing power) anyway, and that is an assumption just on the way something looks it will do better. A PC can pwn people at editing. And for filming it is a lot better on PC; free software, Dragon Stop Motion, SMP ect. And you also can use HD camcorder + webcams on it so...

@Mason I know about Bootcamp, ever heard of Hackintosch?

Re: Mac or PC?

Guys this contant struggle will never end
But just to clarify that macs do have some power
I have an imac running 4 cores of 2.93 intel i7 power
Unless your working for a major motion picture how much more do you need?
Its not like brickfilming is CPU or RAM intensive.
Its your choice the power can be on both but the persnoal preference of the OS is all you

Re: Mac or PC?

That's an i7-860, you want a 980-X extreme, which is much better.
And HD editing not intensive?
CGI not intensive?

Re: Mac or PC?

oh my bad anyways i think blender runs fine with my computer
If not why not get the tower
this isnt a forum of power just the OS

Re: Mac or PC?

Well here's what it is guys. I've decided I would want to get a mac, being (as you guys already brought up) its got bootcamp, so I'll still be able to use Stop motion pro action HD with it (which is what I want to get). I'll also be using it for my GCSE, being as the media department at school use it. I'd be one step ahead of everyone else if I already know about final cut express (which I'll probabally get). I read on SMP's site that it works great with bootcamp and parallels.
But I'm just wondering if a QC pro 9000 will run on boot camp. If not, I suppose I could get a DV camcorder, but that would be extra money. Then I would be able to shoot in HD on SMP with a QC pro 9000, correct?

I believe it has in the past for some users. As long as you are running Windows XP SP2 or later in Bootcamp, you ought to be fine.

Re: Mac or PC?

Any mac OS X is amazingly good but it costs 1,200 us dollors.  Windows have made many different versions to go with I suggest just get Windows 7 it has a lot of the same stuff as a Mac but cost a lot more.  MacBooks and Dell laptops don't compare!  MacBooks are a lot cheaper and run a lot more faster than Dell.

I have to say Mac OS on this one mini/yes
