I also like Pluggedin.net(I think that's the right site name) by Focus on the Family. The reviews are quite in depth. Unlike the quite vague ratings on games: Halo's rated M for blood and violence. I thought it was a blood-bath type of game. Quite the opposite.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I'd also like to mention that being desensitised to videogame violence, in no way at all results in desensitisation to violence in general.
God of War 3 is one of the best looking games on the current generation, and in it, you smash people's faces to bloody, bruised pulps, taunt gods while ripping off their legs and crush Zeus' eyes with your thumbs, that's some crazy @#$!, but after a while, you get used to it - but that doesn't mean I wouldn't freak out if I saw a guy at the shopping centre rip off another guys head.

Pressing L1 and throwing a grenade at a sprite is a world of difference to just holding a grenade, let alone killing someone with it.

Did either of you actually play Red Dead Redemption? "F***" shows up infrequently but regularly throughout the dialogue, there's a few instances of nudity, a few story missions that feature some downright gruesome scenarios, and a brief sex scene. RDR definitely earned its rating.

Yeah i played it.

Swearing doesn't make a film any more than a 15 so that shouldn't be different in a game. And nudity and sex are allowed in 15 films so again that shouldn't make it 18. I would say its worthy of a 15 at most. especially when you compare it to all the other 15 games that are far worse than RDR.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I thought you guys might like to know about this event Valve is doing. Pretty much, for the next 5 days they'll be giving 30 people the top five games on their Steam wishlist (but you need at least ten on it to enter). Steam accounts are free, so I'd get over there right now.

Oh, and while you're at it, maybe you can check out Alien Swarm. mini/bigsmile

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I asked that same question. Just got "swarmed" with Alien Swarm instead. mini/blankexpression
I guess you can google "free steam games list"...

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Well, there's always Trackmania. It's rather monotonous IMO though.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

If I am whishing for a game this year, what would that be? This question is mainly to the people who are allowed to play R rated games. The two games I've been thinking about so far are these, but you could just come up with a better idea.

Fallout: New Vegas
At first it seemed interesting (however, this was when I had seen no gameplay whatsoever, lol) but the graphics are really bad and it's appearantly very glitchy. Is it still worth it with its flaws?

Mafia II
I played the demo. I loved the demo, however, how good is the campaign? I've heard it's short, and I'd rather have a game that lasts long if it doesn't have multiplayer.

So, what'cha think? What should I get?

My old YouTube is since long ago defunct - now even removed.
Here is my new one.

Eh, Focus on the Family's reviews are anything but in depth. Commonsense gives you the information without telling you what to do with it, while Focus on the Family always puts their own spin on their reviews to make the game/movie sound pure evil.

Pluggedin's final word on any violent video game is that it is a violent video game and shouldn't be played.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I can't wait for Donkey Kong Country Returns which comes out on the 3rd of December.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Same here, dude. It's so nice to see what looks like a non-crappy Donkey Kong game for a change.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I put it on my christmas list. I'm scared that if I tell people in school though, they'll say it's a really kiddie game. Also, I want Goldeneye so bad.

Got Need for Speed Hot pursuit the other day. The single Player is decent but the highlight for me so far has been the online multiplayer.

It actually looks hard.

Anyway on another topic. I was going to buy Sonic Colors until I saw this horrible trailer.

Yes they are. SEGA are dead anyway.
