Congratulations to the winners! Twickabrick's entry was my favorite, and I gave it a very high score. Glad to see that it won! Also, Congrats to Emma for getting in the top 3 in two contests.

Congratulations to all the winners; however, I must be honest. While I have always enjoyed NXTManiac's "giants" series, I am disappointed that a 29 second film, in which its humors relies largely upon the viewer being familiar with the series, should have placed so highly in this contest. I would have liked plot to have meant more to the judges. Are comedy films with pop culture references or recurring slapstick-style themes the only kind that will gain a large number of fans in this community?
Edit: I see that NXT and I posted at the same time. I hope you don't take offense at my post, NXT. I do enjoy your work very much, and you are being very gracious about your placement.

Brick7 has a point, didn't we just make a thread complaining about how people need to make their films more about story? And look what has already come up. I now see why Bodville pitched a small tantrum over the results of A-G, he worked hard and got low placement, while some of the other entries placed higher and used less effort.
The animation was good, the story fit, I thought it was hilarious.
I just wanted to entertain my audience, not cause a controversy :'(

Well yes, but that's not the only factor that weighs in on the results.
I don't mean any offense to the entries, this is just a comment on Brick7's post.
The first thing I would like to point out, one of the aspects while judging was story...and in my book, NXT's entry got low markings on the story, and I feel the other judges did the same. The reason why he got such a high rating, I'm sure, is because virtually everything else was good: Animation, Cinematography, Effects, Sounds, Creativity, and Concept. The things it got lowest rated on were Story and Atmosphere. But I'm sure the other judges, along with myself, gave it a maximum of 5 favorable points (a judging aspect if the judge personally feels the film should get more points).
Secondly, most of the entries that did have some kind of story weren't very well made on technical aspects. I would feel safe to say there weren't any entries that really had a good wholesome story to them. And quite honestly, I think CONCEPT and CREATIVITY is more important in this contest than story. NXT's entry was very creative, regardless if it's apart of a series...and even people who haven't see the series should find it to be quite funny...just like I did when I saw the very first one. We were to judge on the film, it's irrelevant what it is related to.
I do think Brick or Treat should have gotten above NXT's video (no offense NXT 
). But there's only so many favorable points to give. 
Oh, what I mean by a "wholesome story" is something that's deep and meaningful. We didn't get that in this contest, but we didn't get plenty of well made simplistic stories (The Final Quest, Brick or Treat, Piano, etc).

Not to be rude to the Builderbrothers, but I didn't really enjoy Brick Or Treat as much as I did Little Red Riding Hugo. Maybe it's because it's my sense of humor, or maybe it's because NXT bribed me. YOU DECIDE. Naw, it was the former. ;D]
Anyway, I gave NXT a high score in everything but story. (I gave story a 5, and everything else 7 and 8's.) I felt that it was a great film that was just hilarious and very well done. I gave Little Red Riding Hugo the maximum of 5 favorable points, and I gave Brick Or Treat 3. That might be a factor, but I'm not sure. If LegO would have checked with me and Scypax before posting the results, there may have been a few changes.

I actually have each of our totals for all the films, so if anyone would like to know which judge gave who what, then either PM me or if you don't mind anything being said publicly then ask here. As for the placements of NXT's film, yes, I too would have liked to see Brick or Treat come a place higher, as the effort it takes to make a 15 minute stop-motion in a month is damn hard. However as it was each of the judges (Including myself) has a different opinion, and thus changes every placing.
I'd also like to point out there was only a 6 point difference between the two films, and also at the end of the day we're not discussing over first place, we're talking about 5th and 4th. So well done everyone, I hope nobody is too disappointed, and good luck next year as well.
