i tried to upload a new avatar today. when i clicked browse, i could view a thumbnail of it, but when i clicked *update profile*, it went back to one of my old ones. Is this a bug on the website, or could it be a virus on my computer?

Also you could clear you cache.
Clear/empty your cache, open a new page with your avatar on it and press refresh if it hasn't worked by then. I saw your Scooby Doo avatar earlier.
