I don't think I understand this completely, public schools are privately owned in the UK? That's a little contradictory, isn't it?
I haven't really noticed a consistent stereotpye of private school kids here, though a lot do seem pretty arrogant and privelleged, and going to a private school, I've noticed a lot of people slagging off others in public/state schools whenever we get an extended weekend or early break finish. People like that just make you feel sick.
In light of this situation, we turn our eyes (and hearts) toward the much loved member LSP who left an impact (good or bad... mostly bad) on this site. R.I.P. LSP! (And good riddance! JK 
) We love you LSP!

Where I come from, "state" schools are know as public schools, mainly because they're public, y'know...
These two statements are false.
Brick7 sounds like she went to a lot of trouble to hep you.
Also in England and Wales the term state school is used to describe schools owned by the state, where as public, private or independent means the school is fee paying. And I'm sure this applies for other places that have a large number of British style public schools, like India and Hong Kong. Though i dont know and to be honest I'm not that bothered.
I dont know why its different here, i reckon it pre-dates the invention of state schools though. Like people probably had to pay for public school, so when the government invented state schools they couldn't call them public schools even though they are public sector. Instead they named them state schools as they are state owned. Though its just a guess.
FYI, Brickyman, I wasn't being sarcastic. That's the frst step to fixing any technology conundrum.
