Re: The Action Match

Why is everyone trying to start a contest? We've got Septemberfest and The Festival of Souls running officially, which is enough. I think there's some sort of mercenary one going on and maybe one more. What's wrong with waiting a month or two to start your own?

Re: The Action Match

I believe in the Skype chat you said "When there aren't as many competitions going around" and this isn't that time. Sorry.

Re: The Action Match

This doesn't sound too bad, but yeah - we already have enough going on right now. Maybe in November/December? Or maybe Spring?

Re: The Action Match

I'm not entering Festival of Souls or Septemberfest  so I'll probably enter this one.

Re: The Action Match

I'm entering Festival of Souls, sorry.

Re: The Action Match

Do you know what's good about the 3 contests all at once?

1) Easier to win a prize.

2) You can enter the contest with the theme which suits you.

Re: The Action Match

I'm currently to trying to install my webcam software onto my laptop.  It hasn't been working so I'm defragmenting my computer to fix it.  I also just got Windows 7 so it should run faster.

Re: The Action Match

De fragmenting your computer will not fix it, it only organizes computer files to make the computer work faster. As for the contest, it has a bad timing, though at least it has prizes, not like EddieHasscle's contest. I will not be entering this though, I am entering (hopefully) the Mercenary contest.

Re: The Action Match

The computer dude said defragmenting it might fix it if not he'll come have a look at it.

Re: The Action Match

Stay on topic about the contest, please...

Thinking of an idea for this contest... mini/confused

Re: The Action Match

LSP please put this off till November. It will be in everybody's best interest too since with a ton of competitions going. Don't get me wrong because I would like to enter too.

Re: The Action Match

I won't put this off, the deadline is November fifth, which will give you guys plenty of time after septemberfest to work. I have three people who said they'll enter, so it looks like I may get 5+ entries, if three said yes the first day. If some people want to to work on one, and I only have like three entries by the deadline, then I'll extend it a month. Hope this works out good.

Re: The Action Match

This "lesser-known member starting a contest even though there were already four or five going on" trend needs to stop. Now.

You'll be lucky to get three entries, as people say they'll enter things all the time and then never do. And with BiM's top tier of directors already entering one of the other contests, I doubt your winning film will become the next internet phenomenon. The lack of traffic this contest will generate for your sponsor, coupled with the likely less-than-stellar quality of the winning film, will make it unlikely that they'll associate with BiM again (at least, not $95 worth of association).

Forgive my annoyance, but at this point I find it hard to believe that all these contests (there have to be 10 or more by now) were all in the works at the same time. People are seeing other members start contests and being inspired to start their own, which in turn inspires more members, and so on. The result is a catch-22 that ends up doing nothing but alienate potential sponsors and water down the achievement of winning a BiM contest to the point where it's practically meaningless.

That said... good luck. I hope this contest generates a string of brilliant entries. I just know better than to expect that.

So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

Re: The Action Match

I'm entering this for sure now.  This thread just got pinned as next to illegal!  I'm living on the edge baby!

Re: The Action Match

"Next to illegal?" I'm sorry, where did I say anything remotely resembling that? All I said was that there's absolutely no good reason to have this contest now instead of in another two months.
