I can truthfully say that no FPS has ever come par with the utter awesomeness that is 007 Goldeneye!

But, you have your own opinion so...

Don't be fooled, my avatar is a facade of conformity.

Got my copy of Halo Reach on Tuesday, it's amazing, end of.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

No. His opinion is not valid. Saying GoldenEye has bad graphics is like saying that this site hates LEGO, and loves Megablocks. Maybe by today's standard , the graphics are lacking, but back then, they were amazing

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I disagree, even as a fan of Goldeneye, the graphics could have been better, even for its time. They weren't bad, and I still think it rides over a lot of other shooters with its gameplay, but I don't think it would be flawed to criticize Goldeneye's graphics.

Ehh...
I mean, what really makes Goldeneye great is that it wasn't much of a gun and run game. On Halo, you can run in with a good weapon, clear a room, and keep on running- your shield will come back if you stay out of the way long enough. With Goldeneye, if you do that, your chances are pretty dire, because the health system doesn't allow for much leeway. It's designed more for stealth than anything, and the prominent gadgets system compliments this. That's not to say there's anything wrong with Halo being the way it is; it's a fun game, just as much as 007 IMO, but I think saying its gameplay superseded Goldeneye's isn't really accurate.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I just got Portal 1. Epic. All I can say... Yeah I beat it right now, really, this game is so full of awesome and dark humor it's just so... lovable.

And remember.... the cake is lie. Oh, and to bad for that poor little companion cube.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I want to buy an xbox just to play Halo: Reach and all the other ones, but so far Halo 1 and Custom Edition for PC is my only outlet. And I'll also get Portal 2 for xbox when it comes out.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

My point was just that as a 7/8 year old, I preferred Halo, because it was a better looking game, killing aliens was fun and playing cat and mouse with a giant spaceship was a tonne of fun. Though I'm not really a Halo fan nowadays.

And Goldeneye didn't look great, most games on the N64 and Playstation using the early polygonal graphics look like junk.

I just got Pokemon Heart Gold. Lurve it.

I do not care about your opinion, unless it has to do with it needing more ponies.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Just finished the 'Blockland' Demo Tutorial. A little odd to get used to at first, but so far is really fun. The graphics and game play are excellent considering how the game was made, and I enjoyed flying all the way into space and the crashing back down in a seamless motion.

My only disappointment so far is that when you die from flying too high you dont smash into pieces, and I dont like how your legs are invisible.....

Well obviously Halo looked better. mini/tongue It came out a couple years after Goldeneye did, and since you probably started off without N64 or PS1, obviously you'll think the graphics of back then were horrible. I remember back then being wowed by the graphics of N64 and PS1; mostly because I had not seen anything like it before. mini/tongue

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

It's really weird to see kids these days praise Halo and Call of Duty like they're amazing, without ever having played the classics like Doom and Goldeneye. I was playing my SEGA Genesis today and was thinking about how the average kid will never experience the classics like Sonic the Hedgehog. Younger video game players are really missing out. Most new games can't compare to a lot of the stuff from the 16-bit generation.

And the new Goldeneye is a horrible, horrible mistake.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Doom was better then Halo will ever be.

No, he's right. Though Lamplight can be excused, having just finished the game.

Back then games couldn't hide behind graphics, and in my opinion kids had a lot more patience.
The old sonic and mario were great, and the first pokemon games are still my favorites. They were hard to beat but that made them fun, you didn't just shoot everyone in a room with one blast, or look up cheats.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

There are a good few classic games I like to continue to praise, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII for two things, lol. Pokémon was fun, until I attempted to get back into the games, but they added over 500 new Pokémon which just ruined it for me, so I'm getting back my Game Boy Colour just for Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver. mini/tongue Also, I've had a lot of fun wth Halo: Reach, Bungie did an awesome job developing the campaign and the multiplayer is just so much fun. Oh, I'm still not convinced Kenect will turn out "great", I'm happy enough with my Nintendo Wii and the games I got for it, especially No More Heroes, lol.
