I'm shooting a scene now with a car driving down a highway at night. Of course, I need the car's headlights to appear to be on so that it looks decent. Any ideas as to how I might accomplish this while I'm animating? I don't want to resort to waiting until post-production to put in the headlights, but I imagine there might be no other option.
Shine a flash light from above, infront of the car, then add in bright lights in the headlights with gimp or photoshop.
if you have led lights or the light-bulb brick from the old trains, you can put the bulb behind the transparent headlights.

You'll need to shine the flashlight at an angle to get this correct. Otherwise, it'll look weird.

LEDs work great! I recommend using them. Inexpensive and yet awesome results.
The car I'm using is a slightly modified version of the car found in the Privet Drive Harry Potter set. I imagine LEDs would work well, but that leaves the question of how I'd get them behind the headlights. The blue cylinders and clear studs are mounted right onto a plate. If I knew of any way to do this effectively, I'd be all over it.
i would reccomend as long as there is not a minifg in the car in the scene u go to this website called LifeLites that make custom LEDs fitted in lego technic parts ( i forget the technical term ). They are reletivley cheap and will require minimal fitting skills, heres the site link : www.lifelites.com. Hope this helped!
DO NOT add the lights in Photoshop! Make a simple 'light' as such in Photoshop on a Transparent background but don't add it in photoshop, if you do that it seems that the lights 'Hop' around in between shots. (its like that with Lightsabers anyway) if you use another program after Photoshop add the 'Light' in the other program(like adobe premiere). the flash light might work. but the light would need to be steady.
There was a site that had a very nice head light pugin for adobe premiere but.....I todally forgot what it was called
