Topic: video editing software question

Does anyone know of a video editing software (like window movie maker, something that edits movies) that can play two sound file at once? what i mean by this is, is there a video editing software that can play background music through-out the video, then have little sound effects during the video. I'm asking this because windows movie make (2.6 which i have) can only play one file at once... not the background. So does anyone know of a free video editing software that can play two sound files at once? please answer

Re: video editing software question

Good luck finding good programs for free. It would be worth it to save up for something like Sony Vegas (PC). Other than Movie Maker I can't think of many other free video editors. Try the Free Software List.

Re: video editing software question

Wax might be an option. It is possible to put as many sounds as you want in seperate tracks. I had some problems (after a while it stopped playing the sounds mini/confused) with it, but maybe my computer just doesn't like me mini/wink.

Re: video editing software question

Wax CAN do audio with infinite layers of audio tracks, but it doesn't really work...

If you use Windows movie maker, you can render the movie and import it again, and add more audio.  That's what I do. mini/wink

Re: video editing software question

All good video editors will give you the ability to add more than one layer of music. Power director 8 for example gives you 4 layers. Unfortunately it does cost a bit of money. Windows movie maker isn't a good video editor and the idea of exporting the film and then putting it through WMM again would really reduce the quality of the film. I recommend you invest in a good video editor, it doesn't even have to be an expensive one. Power director costs about £30.

VirtualDub may do the trick.

Do what he says, and if you save it in HD for every render, it wont lose quality. To save it in HD, click "Publish Movie," tell where to save it, then choose the lowermost option on the page before it renders... should be a drop-down mensu, click it, then choose, for example, 720p (HD). This is what I do for everyone of my videos, but I also use Sony Vegas for sound and effects/titles, its got 10 layers of sound (5 extra if its surround sound) and 10 video layers.

Re: video editing software question

Search for the freeware-version of MAGIX moviemaker (should be from 2009 or 2008)

Yeah I would like to find video editing software like that to. It is so annoying when you can only add one sound file.
