how to you make lego's go in slow motion without effects

what i mean by without effects is that you just don't do regular animation the slow it down with an effect.

Do you just make smaller adjustments in the frames?

Re: how do you make lego in slow motion?

Yeah, just move them less inbetween each frame. There really isn't an easy way around slow motion that I know of.

What he means is if you are shooting at say 15 fps, and wanted to slow down a minifig walking, you'd take maybe 4 or 5 pictures of your minifigure standing there, then you'd take 4 or 5 pics of your minifigure with his leg raised.  Repeat this for the entire walk cicle and you have slow-mo animation! mini/smile

Uh...no, MadLibs. That's too many frames. It would not be slow motion, it would be choppy animation.

Anyway, from my experiments with slow-motion I've found that taking two pics for every movement instead of one achieves a decent slo-mo effect. Of course, making the minifigs movements much, much smaller to achieve slow-motion looks better, but it takes a buttload more time and patience.

Doing it that way actually doesn't turn out that great at all. Basically what you're doing is slowing down the framerate to about 2 or 3 pictures a second. It doesn't give the illusion of slow motion, it only makes it look like you're playing a slideshow. I would suggest Homerball's method, or if you have After Effects, you can use Pixel Motion.

Homerball,s method is just moving the minifig way less each movement, which takes a while, but is worth it.

Re: how do you make lego in slow motion?

two pics for everyone normal movement, then fade each picture together. That's what I would do, but seeing as I've never done it before, don't trust my opinion.
