My goal on youtube is to establish a cult following. If I can get 1k views on each video I produce and each of those 1k views are from the same I would feel pretty accomplished.
Justkidden, I hate you. 
You've just got more suscribers from January than I've got in almost a year.
Yeah, but Justkidden still get's a lot more views than me. And if you think about it, they are important, because when you release a new video, pratically all of those suscribers will see it.
The point is you should be bragging about your number of views, not your number of subscribers. Subscribers come and go. They don't love you the way view count does. 
It'll never let you down. Some days you're feeling down, view count will always have good news for you.

Then maybe you need to work on your relationship with your view count.

I'd like for my viewers to only subscribe if they like my vids, not if they hope I'll sub back for them. This way, subscribers are more important for me and they show me how many people actually like my vids. Of course, this way there'll be less subscribers. I already have 140+ views when i only signed up for youtube on monday. I compare my self with my friend, who has 23 subscribers in only half a year.
But ANYway... I have a design/channel layout question. Take Smeagol's channel for example. You know that banner (pic) up at the top of the page, above the subscribe button and uploads/favs/playlists buttons? How do you put that there? I can't seem to find out how to do that. And some people like NXTManiac have hyperlinks on it, too.

What's a YouTube partner?
You could just make your own Youtube background like with your name up the side like on mine. All you need is GIMP and the template which you can download and watch tutorials on how to on youtube. Just search How to make a custom Youtube background and there's tonnes of tutorials.
Also, a Youtube partner is when you have ads beside your videos and when people click the ads, you get money. You have to have lots of views and completely original content like no TV shows or music videos. Things like that. That's how you get a banner.

I have a partner "branding" problem 
When I go to "Branding Options" then to "Video Page Branding" to change the little image you see over the video, but whenever I load an image THE RIGHT SIZE it never shows up. Check any of my videos and you'll see my problem.
Anyone know what I should do?
Oh yeah, that's another thing I wanted to know. i think its called "branding" like Daragh said... That little pic over your vids, when you click on it , it brings you to the persons channel. How do you do that?
And I'm not going to do the YouTube Partner thing, people think ads are annoying, and barely anyone clicks on them anyway (I don't). I'd rather keep my page ad-free, like FancyPants.

Same here. We were even offered partnership by Youtube, but we decided not to accept. That way our page could still be "family friendly" and ad free.
