Sponsor: a person or an organization that pays for or plans and carries out a project or activity; especially : one that pays the cost in return for advertising time during its course.

I question the validity of this contest.

If it's for real, then it sounds more like Snail announced it before consulting with BrickArms and it would seem rather unprofessional of BrickArms to let this Snail represent them.  Otherwise, delusions of grandeur.

It may not be the most accurate way of putting things, but Snail3productions is hardly breaking with tradition when it comes to these things. Just look through the 100+ various LEGO groups on Flickr; you'll find it is not an uncommon occurrence. The real question is whether a handful of BrickArms motivates you to enter.

Does it have to be about mercenaries? Can't it just be an epic gunfight or something? I don't have any BrickArms, and i've never animated a gun fight before (other than star wars style), so i think this contest may be a good test for me. See how well i do.
If the theme is that Expendables movie, i haven't (and wont) see it either, so i hope that isn't the permanent theme. i just want to try a simple yet epic fight.

I, too, remain healthily skeptical that BrickArms would align themselves with this disorganized attempt at a competition. And it's going to take a lot more than a supposed e-mail reply to convince me.

Hi folks!  I thought I'd pop in just to clarify a few things:

- Yes, BrickArms is sponsoring this contest.  In this context sponsoring means donating material support, namely BrickArms accessories for the purposes of prizes to the winners

- However, apart from providing those prizes, BrickArms had and has no role in the planning or running of this contest. 

As someone who's just joined this community (neat place you have here!), I quite honestly wasn't aware there was already a contest structure in place and that this contest conflicts with that.  Both Will and myself are more than happy to help support community in any way we can, particularly in providing fun items for contest prizes, but we always try to do so in a way that encourages that spirit of community and supports existing community structures. 

Hope that clears up everything!
