Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Anything but Inception. I was excited when I saw the first trailer, and then every moron I've ever met drowned out all the smart people, and made it into this big thing. I'll see it eventually, but they better not make it sound as unappealing as freakin Twilight.

Last film I watched was Ghost Writer. It wasn't anywhere near Polanski's finest, but I really enjoyed it.

The Magnificent Ambersons. Starts off as a stroke of genius, then just ends up having a stroke. You can almost snap your fingers at the moment where Orson Welles was removed from the editing process. Horrible ending. I don't care how the book ended, the ending he originally intended (and shot, mind you) is far superior. Its on the bottom of the ocean somewhere now.

Me and Orson Welles Not too shabby, despite the fact that Welles was only 23 when he directed Caesar, not in his early 30s. Its a small note. Also, Zack Efron did nothing in the film, and that's the way I like it (that's the way I like it).

I had to watch The Spy Who Loved Me at work the other day. Just kind of seemed like a remake of You Only Live Twice to me, which is a little lame. And without the ninjas? It then got remade again as Tomorrow Never Dies, so whatever. I give up. I tried to help, but whatever.

Aaand... (drumroll) Predators. What a load. That was dreadful. Laurence Fishbourne turns up pretending to be Brando or something, and it all amounts to nothing. Adrian Brody is a terrible lead. He's a good actor, but King Kong showed what happens when he doesn't have anything to work with. This was almost like that, except more scriptless, and less drug-induced typewriter banging. S..... It's not like it was a masterpiece or anything. My point was Avatar made a billion dollars and this has only made 10 million.

Speaking of masterpieces, I just saw Annie Hall. I liked it.

I feel like Inception gets the audience involved with its own complexity and little else. Ultimately, it's rather shallow.

After re-watching it, I agree with this to some degree.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I just watched Shotgun Stories. I interned on Jeff Nichol's latest, so I feel obligated to recommend it, but I'm not entirely sure how I felt about it.

Men Who Stare At Goats

Funny movie, though perhaps not gut-bustingly so. I honestly liked it more than I thought I would after some reviews I read at the time it came out. Perhaps it could've used a stronger conflict, but I liked it.

Favorite moments:

Clooney lying back and remote viewing.
The very end shot.

Smoking marijuana, eating Cheez Doodles, and masterfully debating do not constitute 'plans' in my book - Walter 'Heisenberg' White

The House of the Devil
Loved it, felt like it was from the 80s.

Tourist Trap
Strangest slasher film I've ever seen.

I'm just finishing up Elvis's Charro!

Awesome western, considering. It's not a good western, but I'm with Stalin and a John Wayne hater, so I prefer this.

Jaws

Amazing! It was a very powerfull film that made us all think twice about swimming in the water.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Brutal and disturbing, but ultimately a very effective thriller. Noomi Rapace was superb.

Toy Story 3

PIXAR WILL MAKE YOU CRY. Such a great touching movie, I hope that's definitely the end though, you just can't top that gem (who knows what Pixar can do though after that?). I was amazed after all this time (12 YEARS since the last one), they could pick back up again as easily as if they just made they second one, it still felt new and fresh. I loved how well the script was put together too, even though it slightly had the formula of the last one, it was pretty unpredictable at points. Overall, it was the best possible way they could have ended it all off, and it was definitely one of the best CG animated movies this year, if not this whole decade.

5/5

Also I absolutely loved the cartoon/CG film in the beginning, Day & Night. So clever and awesome.

Alright, Ridley Scott, you can stop now. This is the definitive cut of the film.

Bram Stroker's Dracula]

This is probably the second time I've seen this, but I think this time I finally got it. Great film, I love Francis Ford Copalla. You can't really get any better than this, this tops all vampire films. Gary Oldman is the bomb. Also you could tell how much work went into the cinematography, it was really well done.

4/5

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Jackie Brown
Hmm... I feel bad for saying this, but I don't really enjoy this movie. First time I saw it I felt obliged to like it, because Tarantino made it, and he is God. But to be honest it was kinda meh. It had some good scenes, though, like when you saw "how it went down" from different perspectives, and Samuel L. Jackson trying to convince Beaumont to get in the trunk. luls.
