Topic: Project Super Task Assignment

Here is a ballot where everyone who is interested in participating in Project Super can figure out what parts of the project they want to participate in. It just isn't getting enough attention on the Project Super forums. If you want to get to the Project Super forums and register there, the link is right here:

http://bricksinmotion.com/communityproject/index.php

I would recommend that you don't sign up for more than one or two parts at the very most. It might seem like not very much to just sign up for three or four parts, but it really is a lot more than it seems to be. I want to emphasize the fact that there will most likely be enough people to take all the parts and more. Also, if someone is already doing one part, don't think that you can't say you want to do it either. There is definitely going to have to be more than one person working on each category. However, if you see that there are already enough people signed up for one category and not enough for another one, you could help out and choose the category with fewer people in it already. If you want to go ahead and sign up for a category because that's your specialty, or because you think it will be fun for you, go ahead and say you want to. There's nothing stopping you from joining any of the sections. Just take a look and see where you could be best helping out the project.

Here are the different categories you can choose from:

Director (person will be in charge of all aspects of the film, from scriptwriting, to casting, to editing, etc.)

Scripting/Concept (the people in this section will be writing the script and developing the characters)

Storyboarding (scan written storyboards or make digital storyboards. Only start once the script is finalized)

Set Design (these people will build and texture the sets, props, and environment)

Decal Design (these people will make decals for the minifigures, or anything else that needs a decal)

Modelers (these people will set up the 3D scene)

Animators (these people will animate the minifigures and everything else that needs animating)

Sound Creators (these people will create the foley and sound effects)

Music Composers (music composers will create all the music to be used in the film)

Editors (these people will be editing the footage and make the final release)

Collaborators (the people in this group will be making sure everybody does their part, and organize who does what when)

…and those are all the sections I can think of that we need. If we need any more or need to change any, Lech could always edit my post.

And each group will need a separate thread for their group for them to plan everything out. I think Lech, Blue, me, or someone else will probably make these threads though, but that might take a little while, so just bear with it.

Choose wisely, and remember, don't bite off more than you can chew. The last thing this project needs is a person to take a big load, then never come through with it and dump the work on everyone else. So, without further ado, you may post below what section you want to be in, and I will frequently update my post to refresh who is in what section.

Stay Super!

-BG

From Lechnology: It'll be ideal to have at least 2 people in charge in each department in case one drops out.  In such a case, I think we need to have 3 people signed up in each section before we actually start the project.

And just so you know, I won't update this thread anywhere close as often as the one on the Super forums.

EDIT: Blue actually has a fully functional 3DS Max minifigure rigged perfectly to go, so if you use 3DS Max you don't have to worry about making a bendy figure. Littlebrick is still refining his, so right now Blue has the only fully functional rig, and is working on converting it into Blender also.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Is this just CGI?
Or actual Animation?
EDIT: Thanks, i'm sorry but I never really paid that much attention to that thread! mini/lol

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

It's a CGI collaboration project. You should look over the Project Super thread in the General Filmmaking section, and all of that is explained.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

We would like to be signed as one of the editors (actually two mini/smile ).  If you send us a sample clip, we can edit it to show what we can do.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Hey BG, could I perhaps be a decal designer?

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Okay, all you guys, it would be a lot easier to plan out and stuff if you register on the forum for this and ask Lech for permission to view the forums.

@BuilderBrothers: There's no footage yet. Sign up if you want to know what's going on.

@RealBrick: I would also suggest you sign up, because that's where we will be doing everything.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

FYI, you should really be confident in the areas you're signing up for.  You are not required to sign up for a section if you're not confident in working on it.

Major sections like Director, Set Design, Animation, and Editing will require persons who can fully commit to the project.  Do not sign up if you're going to lose interest.

Also note that not everyone's suggestion and work will be used in the final product.  You are part of a design team contributing to the ultimate set design, decal design, and scriptwriting.  Some ideas may do through, some won't.  Try not to get whiny when your ideas are rejected.

Right now, we're looking for writers.  With the possibility of it becoming a Series opened to anyone to take part in, I welcome story ideas that can be distributed to others to develop.

I'm your man in that case mini/bigsmile

Do you need to "test" me or something? Where do I sign up?

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

RealBrick, if you could send us some work you've done, you can certainly try out for a decal designer.

I'd like to add that we're going to need around 5-10 animators on this project, at least. Each animator would have to do 30-60 seconds of animation, maybe longer, depending on how long the script turns out. If needed, I will create a video showing the necessary features of the animation system in Blender.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

I'll help with the writing

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

I am interested in dong the sound foley. As of now I am kind of busy to do any CGI work at the moment. But sound work I can fit in though.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

I might also be able to do a little bit of sound work

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Okay, and just remember, if you're actually serious about taking part in this project, join the Super forum. It will make my life sooo much easier. Thanks. I'm not gonna actually sign you up for anything unless you join, because otherwise it means that you're not committed enough.

We joined, and asked to be added as editors.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

I'd love to be part of set design. I may not be able to work with CGI, but I sure can give you designs so you can build them yourself. mini/bigsmile

I'm interested also in helping with the concept. Perhaps I can provide some sketch designs.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Go for it.  Since the story/series is set in the future (around 2050 and beyond), I'd like to see futuristic designs of any from indoor furniture to cars to buildings.

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Can I have the job as a decal designer of special effects artist?
Edit:
permission to enter the super forums?

Re: Project Super Task Assignment

Alright, if anyone is interested in taking even a small part in this, that would be great. We still need a few more people and still have lots of spots you can take up.
