I think Cracking Contraptions comes next,
then it's the Were Rabbit,
and then it's A Matter Of Loaf and Death.

Re: Aardman and other great animation studios

If your in America, you can get all of 'em except for Matter Of Loaf And Death.
If your in England or in Europe, you can get 'em all.

Re: Aardman and other great animation studios

Any idea what Aardman uses for software / hardware?

Re: Aardman and other great animation studios

Woah, Cinexcellence. Long time no see!
I think the software they use depends on what they are filming. I know for a while they used Stop Motion Pro with the digital stuff, but I can't say if they are currently. They use Digital SLR cameras now on their lesser TV series as well. Apparently for "Curse of the Were Rabbit" they used Mitchell BNCs.
Here's an article about the making of the film.

Thanks for the link. I've been googling it, but hadn't come up with any answers.

Yeah, I'm slowly trying to get back into animation. Graduated from college, got married, starting to settle. Just haven't had the time. mini/smile

Laika is a pretty impressive, yet somewhat small studio. My aunt actually lives a few blocks from their studio in Portland, Oregon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they mainly do computer animation?

Re: Aardman and other great animation studios

Oh cool, someone bumped this thread. Yayz.

I just got a book on Aardman from the 90's or whatever year it was made in. It's called "Creating 3-D Animation: The Aardman Book Of Filmmaking". It inspired me to make a claymation figure, and I'm going to animate it later tonight. mini/bigsmile

Chicken Run!  and Coraline  mini/lol

Re: Aardman and other great animation studios

Anyone want to mention the studio that trained the "famous" members at Pixar (John Lasater and Brad Bird), pioneered the feature animation film WHILE developing the principles of animation, and kept animation in North America alive when all other stuidos were closing (and have done this twice now!)?

Anyone?

Re: Aardman and other great animation studios

Dang, I didn't know Warner did all of that.

You should watch the DVD extras of that film; they'll make you want to be a professional animator, haha.

The other two animation houses I can think of would be Pixar (obviously) and Studio Ghibli.

I also think so.

Smallfilms, Bumper Films, AP Films, and Woodland Animations.

Unfortunately i dont think any of these companies make anything new, but i certainly remember watching their programmes when i was little.
Small films being my favourite because it was just 2 guys in a shed in Kent. They made Bagpuss and 'The Clangers' which are possibly the best children's programmes ever made.
But I think Ivor Wood has to be the best animator of all time, he made a lot of the greats. The Wombles, Paddington bear, Post man pat, The Herbs and a few others.
