Does anyone know how to make realistic looking lasers? And if so, which program?

Well, one option is Axagon Composer, but it might be a little difficult if you are new to the application.

Here is a little laser "preset" I made. Just double click the track named "video" and load your file. I hope that helps!

Aren't we allowed to do double posts?
it's not good to do that much. You can edit your previous post. just say EDIT: in the under the previous post and people understands it.

What is fx lab? Is it for windows?
Don't use Fx Lab, you don't need to use it. I believe FX lab costs money, gimp can do it, and for free too. The only problem is you'll have to do it frame by frame.
You could even use LS maker because lasers would use the same principle as a light sabre maker.
i use adobe photoshop for my lasers, all you do is make something that looks like a mini light saber, i used it in one of my old films, the link is here if you wanna see, there a litlte fast though

Because of the speed of lasers, you'd probably have to animate frame-by-frame anyway.

If you have after effects, then using the beam (Effects, Generate, Beam) you can make a simple laser. To animate it, make a position key frame at the start of the laser when it is coming out of the gun. Then go when you want the laser to end and drag it of the screen and voila.
I just did a tutorial in two lines!
Yeah, but it could still be helpful to someone else searching through the old threads for an answer.
