WAYS YOU CAN GO GREEN: LAPTOP

  • Turn your power settings down on your battery.
    Lower your screen brightness.
Put computer on sleep when away.

WAYS YOU CAN GO GREEN: DESKTOP

  • Lower screen brightness.
Turn computer on sleep when away.

WAYS YOU CAN GO GREEN: BRICKFILMING

  • If possible, use only one lamp and turn off the other.
Set your lamp on a slightly lower setting.

Suggestions are appreciated.

No, no, absolutly not, they have made our highways green, they have made our homes green, they have made our leisure green, but they will NOT make Brickfilming Green!

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

Good idea, though I think the main concern is the energy a computer uses. Lamps are fairly efficient.

Right. Everyone, let's be obtrusively wasteful.

Unfortunately the lamps kind of come with the territory, I wouldn't settle for using only one lamp just because it saves energy if I can get much better results from two- in the grand scheme of things I can always save the energy elsewhere. However, the idea that you should turn things off when you aren't using them is certainly a good one; there's no reason you should leave stuff on while you go do whatever, it just costs you money in the long run.

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

It's an interesting idea, I think the best way is to make sure your lamp and computer aren't working while you aren't. Personally, I'm going to keep my brightness, as I fear a lower brightness might give me an incorrect representation of the image, and I might end up with an over exposed image as I would try and compensate for the lack of brightness. It's a good idea though, and I'll welcome any other tips.

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

My electricity comes from the national grid so what comes trough my sockets is not my problem.

I don't know if its the same there but here the government is taxing everything and using the money to build crappy wind turbines and the like, its kind of unfair.
But i do like the idea of saving on electricity bills.

Not going to save energy.

Set your lamp on a slightly lower setting.

Energy saving light bulbs mate. You can get 8 watt bulbs that give off 40watt equivalent.

Also buying Lego in its self isn't very eco-friendly. Especially for you guys outside of Europe.

You mean this right?
And if so yeah. In Tesco's I got 2 for £4, not cheep but cheaper than $200.

Actually, it would. Turning down your screen brightness uses a lot less energy because the lights in the screen don't have to shine as brightly, and don't need as much energy to shine dimly.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or if you're horribly misinformed, but I've never seen a laptop run on watch batteries.

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

Are dell Inspiron's not desktops?
@justsomekidpro Yeah if its a laptop your gonna need a laptop battery but i thought you were on about the battery you need to keep your clock working and thus software from messing its self up.

Misinformed, I don't troll this site.

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

Ah, that's my bad TDogg, I jumped too fast on that one. She may have meant a desktop, I just assumed she was referring to a laptop. My apologies.

For sake of staying on topic:
I wonder how much of a difference self lighting sets with LEDs make energy wise, versus a set lit from above with lamps? Obviously it would only be practical in certain circumstances, but it would be an interesting experiment.

That suggestion might be problematic.

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

Biggest way to go green: brickfilming - don't animate at all.

Re: BRICKFILMING: Going Green

Honestly, I would rather make a great brickfilm instead of lowering and adjusting all my settings and equipment in order to be "green".
