Topic: BrickFilm Fights

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RealBrick/Drawings/film-fights.png
Introduction

I think we can agree that some of the most exciting parts of brickfilms are the fights, we can also agree that fights can be hard to do, so that's what this thread is for. In this thread, members can challenge each other to film a fight to the death sequence in which the animator of the specific entry wins. Hopefully, this will improve fight sequences in films, and be quite entertaining for the entrant and the viewer.

Entering

To enter the challenges, you first need to post an image of your signature figure. You may also post variations of your figure so those who lack the pieces of one figure can create the other. Once that is done, you have officially entered the "arena" if you will. To get into a match, you must challenge a member who wants to be challenged. If you want to be challenged, just say so. When Challenging a member or members,(there is no maximum) the challenger must make a post saying who he or she challenges, the time limit until the deadline, and specifics, such as:

  • The intensity of the battle.

  • The maximum/minimum duration of the battle.

  • Banned Weapons?

  • Any other concerns.

...and please, keep the specifics reasonable, we don't need any 1 second battles, or 1 year deadlines.

Entry Requirements:

  • The entry must be for the contest, therefore having this video in the beginning or end. (Download the video!)

  • There must be a fight. Not a stoic man being attacked.

  • Keep the gore to a minimum, that means no blood swimming pools.

...Any entries that don't abide these rules will be disqualified.

Winning

We all like winning things.

When the challenge deadline has been met or all entries have been submitted, the challenger will make a post showing all the entries, then, for 3 days, people will post their vote. if 11 people haven't voted by the 3 days, the voting will extend 1 day. Whoever has the most votes wins.

Have Fun, if you have any questions, just ask them here or PM me.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

This seems like a well organized challenge, but seriously, there's already two very similar threads. Yes, fights are fun and I plan to have that as an upcoming theme in the Animation Challenge thread, and if you want to do one right away, feel free to challenge someone in this thread. There's just really no point having yet another animation challenge-related thread.

I've decided that I'm going to become immune to several select, non-lethal poisons, then put them in my snacks to discourage sneaky snack snatchers. -Littlebrick

I disagree. Most brick film fight scenes are crap. Even the good ones aren't that interesting without some sort of story behind it.
Also your rules are just stupid.
"There must be a fight. Not a static man being attacked."     I want to make a man being beaten up with a chair.
"Keep the gore to a tight minimum, that means no blood swimming pools."   I wanted the walls to be coated in blood.
"The entry must be for the contest, therefore having this video in the beginning or end."    That video doesn't fit the theme i had in mind.

Perhaps removing these rules would give the contest some more freedom and allow people to do what they want and not what you want them to do.

There is, because a lot of your themes don't interest me and you don't let other people choose the themes. Wall runs followed by wall smashes then hole digging is really not that interesting.

They may not be interesting to you, but, these animation techniques aren't used that often and if they are they generally fail. The main point of the animation challenge was to expose more techniques to brickfilms.

Nobody's perfect. Hopefully, now that I'm not thinking of them all by myself there will be more interesting challenges.

Exactly, thats the very thing I am talking about, I think if Members were to continue to practice their fights, they would get better, correct?

TDogg wrote:

That's fine, but I don't want the member being attacked to be oblivious like in Roid Rage.

TDogg wrote:

Well, that's disturbing. Limit gore to a wall with a blood stain or two, not waterfalls of blood.

TDogg wrote:

The video addresses that you made the video for the contest, you can make a story. The whole thing is shooting a fight scene. Member versus Member. the two members shoot their own video of them attacking each other. The better one wins.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

Double post:

This is what happens:

  • Member1 challenges member2 to fight.

  • member1 makes video of member2 loosing fight

  • member2 makes video of member1 loosing fight

  • members 3-14 vote

  • member1 or 2 wins challenge.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

In that case, this really could have just gone in NOS' challenge thread.

That's not a fight. That's like calling the ear-cutting scene from Reservoir Dogs a fight.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

Yeah, even though that scene WAS SO AWESOME. mini/bigsmile

I don't mean to have a go at you, a lot of your challenges are nice ideas. But there has yet to be anything i really like the sound of.

I admit that it was good, but now it just feels like BL is flogging a dead horse. There needs to be fresh ideas.

I can't imagine this thread ever replacing the animation challenge though.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

C'mon BL, let the man make his challenge.  I've always wanted to improve my brickfilming skillz in the brawling catagory, and here's a great way to do that!  Here's my sigfig

You mean striking an expired equus.

And MadLibs, I'm not trying to force RealBrick into not doing this, it's just that I feel three animation challenge threads are a bit redundant and unnecessary. If you want to improve your brickfilming skills in this particualr department, you could just as easily (a. challenge someone in NOS' thread or (b. do it on your own. We might even have some more fight-related minichallenges or a big fight-related challenge in the Animation Challenge thread sometime in the not-so-distant-future. Like I said, this thread really isn't neccessary.

Okay, you have a point, but NOS's thread is dead, and yours features redundant challenges. In your thread, you challenge members, in this thread, they challenge each other.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

It's not a bad idea, I don't understand why are you complaining about this. I'd like to be challenged, but I can't animate untill the 16th.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

this thread sounds cool. and real brick actually have a point. nos thread is dead.

Why are you looking at my signature?
Mod edit: Your signature started it.
... Oh yeah.

Re: BrickFilm Fights

So if it's sounds cool, I'm willing to challenge someone.  Bring it on!

More than a couple of animation challenge threads on an ANIMATION forum?! THIS IS MADNESS.

THAC XIV entry here: (Never) Meant To Be

Re: BrickFilm Fights

Madness?
THIS. IS.
Not a bad idea. The fight club films were always fun to watch. I have no objections to the established rules, they seem pretty reasonable.
