Just another zombie movie, but it was a good zombie movie. Aside from this I've only seen a little bit of the first movie, but I've saw enough to understand this movie pretty well. Milla Jovovich was pretty bad ass.

Weird, I think they're really stupid. It's all CGI looking and just not scary. But that's just me.

I finished watching it at 5:30 in the morning, so I can't really remember a lot of it. I probably should have mentioned that.

INCEPTION]

It's not very often that a movie rises from the junk in Hollywood nowadays.
You don't need to see this in IMAX, I'm pretty sure if I saw it in IMAX for the first time my brains would come out my ears. I even thought I was in an IMAX theater when I was watching it because I felt so much in the movie. I thought I wasn't going to be able to hear the movie at first because of some REALLY LOUD kids in the back and front of me, but as soon as the movie got going I didn't hear a single thing from them again. This movie almost completely took hold of you because of how complex and visually complex it was, that's scary. btw, I thought the anti-gravity visuals in the hallway were genius along with reason why it was anti-gravity. ONLY A FREAKIN GENIUS WOULD BE ABLE TO THINK SOMETHING AS AWESOME AS THAT UP. As far as the story, I'll get back to you on that. I've still got to see this a couple more times. Also, I had no idea that it was going to be as emotional as that, and sell it so well. And I loved how tame the CGI was, I almost came to like it seeing how controlled it was.
I hope to see this get some Oscars, let's hope the same thing doesn't happen like what happened to The Dark Knight.

4.5/5

28 Days Later
I seem to do this thing where I see a good film, don't really enjoy it, watch it again later, and !@#$ love it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Citizen Kane

When a movie made in the 40's tells a story better than most movies in the 21st century......you know there is something wrong.

I was incredibly worried that this would be nothing but metaphors challenging the audience. Whilst the metaphors are there, I happily ignored them. The rise and fall of Charles Foster Kane is a genuinely interesting story that is told extremely well. And that's really it. I have nothing original to add to what has already been said about this, so I wont even try.

^ Or Metropolis from 1927.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I think the most interesting thing about Citizen Kane is how it almost completely avoids any supposedly omniscient narrator; it's very much about subjectivity. I'm not so sure if I like the story all that much.

S1M0NE
It was ok I guess. The only reason I watched this was because it had Al Pacino in it and there was nothing else on TV.
Al Pacino is awesome.
Anyway, I kinda think that if his role was played by another actor the whole movie would have sucked completely.

INCEPTION
Oh my god.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Not bad.

Seven Samurai

Magnificent mini/wink

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Inception

While highly entertaining and being one of the better movies to come out this year beside Shutter Island and Toy Story 3, I don't see what's the big deal about it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Question about INCEPTION:

Spoiler (click to read)

When the van falls off the bridge in level 1, they experience zero gravity in level 2. However, they do not experience zero gravity in level 3. Why is this? You would think that because they are experiencing zero gravity while they sleep in level 2, it would affect level 3.
What's up with that?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Chaser / Chugyeogja

I loved it, all of it felt real and the acting was great. It has a complete different approach to the horror / thriller genre, it's a actually slasher flick but a great one.

I've been into Asian cinema a lot lately. Any Asian suggestions anyone ?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Kenji Mizoguchi and Yasujiro Ozu are both excellent directors.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Killer is meant to be pretty good.

I was wondering that myself actually. My only guess is that these sorts of things only affect the next dream level down. Another example would be the rain when they entered the first dream level, caused by Yusef drinking too much. The subsequent dream levels had no rain, though. Alternatively, it could be that because the first dream level was causing the zero gravity they experienced it in the next level, but since nothing was directly causing it there it didn't ripple down further.

Any film that can incite this much intellectual activity is brilliant, I think.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Spoiler (click to read)

The rain thing is pretty easily explained when you keep in mind that the next levels of dreaming are induced by other dreamers.

The no gravity thing is tricky though and seems illogical though. If there's no gravity on dream layer 1 and it affects people one layer lower (on layer 2), layer 2 would also have no gravity (we see this in the film with the van vs the hotel room/elevator). This would mean that because there's no gravity on layer 2, it would affect people one layer lower again.

Or maybe anything is possible because Leonardo DiCaprio was asleep the whole time.

I was considering showing that for a bad movie night, but that one is just... way too bad.
