Topic: Animating a banana?

Yeah, for my next film I will need to animate a banana.
Hmm...
Basically my idea was for the banana to look something like this:

And I connect a wire to "legs" and the body of the banana so it can walk around on them and stuff without falling over. Maybe a few wires.
I'm not sure if that will work very well. Although it will be able to stand up, animation may be difficult. Any suggestions?

Re: Animating a banana?

Coil three wires together and the try to place them into the peels. do this for all peels. You might have to do some heavy masking as another option, as this is a very unstable animation test.

Thanks.

Re: Animating a banana?

I think VIM meant it to look something like this:

The wires are red. Mini tripod-ish.

Re: Animating a banana?

You might want to have three peels on the ground instead of just two. It'll be a lot more stable.

With all due respect Noodle, I don't want you here. - Ratboy Productions

Re: Animating a banana?

Mmm. That might be a wise choice there. I will probably do an animation test on the weekend, see what works.
Then I will eat the banana.

Re: Animating a banana?

Looks like it's got a mod edit - no thanks

Pfft. Vik is the most family-friendly person I know.

If the thing I mentioned didn't exist you wouldn't exist and than you wouldn't have a family so I figured it was family friendly. Guess not, sorry about that.

Re: Animating a banana?

I have to admit, in a way Vik's got a point mini/tongue
(Ontopic) Here is an animated commercial I saw for the Xbox, in the first scene, they hold the spider up with a rope, perhaps if you can make something of this sort, it would be easier for you. Finished product

Re: Animating a banana?

Once I animated a banana. But it didn't walk around on it's peel, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. mini/tongue

Re: Animating a banana?

Haha nice point vik.
Real Brick, love the propeller idea. I might use that somewhere in the film.
VIM, I might try using rope, although I'm not sure how that will affect the masking (it would create shadow, yeah?). BTW love the Xbox ad.
Hmm animating a banana... this is proving to be a most perplexing kerfuffle indeed.

Re: Animating a banana?

And maybe put the banana in the fridge for like 2hours before animating.

Re: Animating a banana?

You could also give the banana 3 things to walk on and one thing to shoot. Like 4 in  total.

Re: Animating a banana?

Oh yeah. That would be way easier.

Re: Animating a banana?

If you play with your lighting a bit, you should get pretty nice results. Either rope or stick a coiled wire up the banana mini/tongue and sticky tack that to the floor, and then there is no need for masking.

Re: Animating a banana?

Maybe you could make a banana into a marionette? mini/tongue
Animate the crowds running away separately.
