You should use a higher framerate and take more pictures.
Hmm, maybe take the figs appart when the car is running over them. That'll not make any sense but it'll look like the car is splashing them.

Don't use Windows Movie Maker. They tend to compress films to a bad quality. Also, keep your camera still, and I recommend using this tutorial for your animation problems. Also, to prevent flickering lights. wear black when you animate, and keep a distance from the set when capturing your picture.
