Hi, I've only just signed up with a view to entering the competition and I saw this post. I'm just wondering whether I have to enter this as well or whether it's optional, because I haven't started animating yet?  mini/sweat

The trailer contest is optional. But if you do enter the trailer contest, you also have to enter the regular Avant Garde contest (obviously.)

Cheers, I can't wait! mini/lol

There is some errors in animation, but your trailer is pretty good.

Yeah, A few shots were a little problematic, The most annoying part was spraying the figs OVER and OVER. mini/tongue

Releasing my trailer for my Avant-Garde Contest entry:

"Ye Giants of Olde" Trailer (in 3D)

This film (and trailer) is in 3D, so you'll either need to view it using "Cross-Eyed Free Viewing" for the full-color experience or use 3D glasses.  Just select your preferred viewing method via YouTube's 3D player.  (I think "parallel" viewing, like what's used for viewing Magic Eye images, will not work in this case because these images are wide, wider than the width between your eyes.)

For help with cross-eyed viewing, check out http://www.starosta.com/3dshowcase/ihelp.html.

For cross-eyed viewing, I think it also helps to use your right hand to block the right-most image from your right eye and your left hand to block the left-most image from your left eye.  The result is that your eyes are slightly crossed and looking through the gap in between your hands.  Remember that your right eye needs to be focused on the left-most image and vice-versa.  Another trick that makes cross-eyed viewing a little easier is to sit back from the screen.  Cross-eyed viewing takes some effort, but the cross-eyed technique produces vivid, full color images, unlike colored 3D glasses which distort and eliminate some color information.  Good luck.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde Trailer Contest [CLOSED]

Why would you only release it in 3D? I'd rather not bugger up my eyes to try and watch this.

Re: BiM 2010: Avant-Garde Trailer Contest [CLOSED]

If you choose 'Left image only' or 'Right image only' from the 3D menu, you can watch it normally.

Creating a film in 3D is one approach to satisfying the Avant-Garde theme of this contest, I don't think a 3D brickfilm has ever been made before, not that I know of anyway.  Try using colored 3D glasses if you are unable to master the cross-eyed technique, which I understand can feel uncomfortable at first, but your eye muscles will strengthen, get used to it, and will not cause any long-term harm to your eyes.

Actually, since this is a 3D film, watching it in 2D would really be watching it "abnormally".  mini/wink  Seriously though, thanks, Hazzat, for posting how to watch it in 2D for those who need to.

That was quite a well-done trailer AncientBricks.  It left us really wondering what the "problem" was.
