Topic: An animation tripod?

I was wondering if there are any tripods out there that has the ability to be moved in tiny increments which would be perfect for camera movements in stop motion. I have an old tripod at my disposal but it's an old faulty thing. Very slidey when I move it so not ideal for stop motion. What tripods are out there that are ideal for animation?

Re: An animation tripod?

You might want to buy a flexible tripod that expands to only 11". We used to have one before it broke, it worked fine mini/bigsmile .

Re: An animation tripod?

There are ball and socket ones that are pretty easily found in your local camera store, be warned these cost a bit of money, the cheapest one I saw at best-buy was $180 so it might be out of range for a few people. I tried it out, and all I have to say is this is PERFECT for animation and such.

Gorillapod or ball and socket http://www.amazon.com/Dolica-AX620B100- … =8-1-spell the only problem is that it doesn't have a handle. Maybe go with a fluid head tripod

If it worked so good, then why did it brake mini/lol mini/tongue

And just to remember, if your going to buy a ball and socket head, be sure to either buy a Manfrotto or Gitzo. These two brands made really good heads that will move when you want them to and are incredibly steady once you've positioned them.

Re: An animation tripod?

Keep on topic guys.

Thanks for  the responses. It's not urgent it's just for when I do plan on animating again the future I just wanted to hear if there was a particular one that animators go for.

Re: An animation tripod?

Hmm I have heard of the SLIK brand tripod and used it and liked it a lot personally. Gritzo was also really good too. Keshen uses the SLIK one as he showed in his BTS video.
